Pittie tail - possible dock? :(

I don't want to, but it's been 3 years of on and off pittie tail. The doc last month said that if it's causing pain then it would possibly warrant docking. He's now 8 years old, from what the doc told me, it's not an easy surgery as an adult dog. The tip pops open and bleeds everywhere. It could be ...

Re: Chicago, IL suburbs - BSL?

I don't think that's accurate anymore.
I have read nor heard of any discussions in the city of Chicago about BSL.
Several years ago, it was tried but never went through. If anyone finds a 'reliable' source of Chicago getting into this again, let me know, but I don't see that they are.

Chain link backyard fencing solution for DA dog

Hi I'm looking at buying a house *yay*, and in this changing market I can't be picky about a house already having a privacy fence. Many in fact have 4 foot chain link. I have never had Maverick in a chain link yard and I can't have issues. He's very defensive reactive and I can't have him rushing th...

Re: First Aid Kit Ideas?

Good feedback, thanks! I've got all of that including vet wrap (its great). Quick stop, or styptic pencil/powder is for the nails. We have that too because I clip all three of them, always have it next to me. I would use Hydrogen Peroxide for cleaning blood and such...do you prefer something else? I...

First Aid Kit Ideas?

Hi there Now that my dogs are in their senior years (7, 8, and 9) I think I need to be more organized and assemble a first aid kit. There are some for pets I've seen, but they seem pretty hokey. I'd rather get the pieces myself and put it in a container. I have bandage scissors, different bandage ty...

Re: Making muffins and suckling on toy like a puppy? Video

@rg This is exactly where my thought process has been all these years. You articulated very well and this makes sense. This does seem like the most logical explanation - and I am glad you could recognize the contentment in his eyes. It is definitely self soothing. As a whole, he has confidence issue...

Re: Making muffins and suckling on toy like a puppy? Video

Thanks for the advise. The only reason I even demonstrated on video what he does is because I know he does it. I don't bother him when he is doing it, the other dogs leave him alone, and he looks so peaceful so I won't take it typically rather I will redirect or get up and distract. Like last night,...

Re: Making muffins and suckling on toy like a puppy? Video

That's the thing. Not sure how to work on it when he's not doing it. Since he rarely does this, he rarely "guards" like this. It's confusing because I have dealt with dogs who truly guard toys and food, and he doesn't at all. I'm not trying to downplay this - it does concern me because to ...

As a side note, he never pulls in like that with any other toy at any other time - just when he "suckles" like this...

Re: Making muffins and suckling on toy like a puppy? Video

I just want to be clear, he doesn't not let me have it. I could grab it at any moment. When I pet him on the head, he stops but he wags his tail and looks at me. Then he resumes as soon as I stop petting him. This is what I am trying to get across, he lets me have it and that's not the issue. He doe...

Making muffins and suckling on toy like a puppy? Video

First off, I'd like to say that Maverick is making progress with dog exposure, working with a great trainer who's focus is bully breeds. :) So he's done this every so often ever since he's been a puppy (7 months puppy). He suckles a soft/plush toy and "makes muffins" if you have ever seen ...

# of animals on property laws...

So in looking for a house I am a bit bummed at needing special insurance and being denied by companies because of Maverick's breed. My GF (soon to be fiance') and I are moving in together soon and we have a quantity problem. She has a cat and a dog. I have 3 dogs. Most municipalities say no more tha...

Re: Chicago, IL suburbs - BSL?

The only suburb that is really close to me is Wheeling, and that's 15 miles away. That listing helped though as I was looking at Wheeling as an option.

There are probably 5-7 cities not on there that I am considering.
Thanks for the list though. This info is hard to find.

Chicago, IL suburbs - BSL?

Hi I am going to be moving out of Chicago into the burbs, hopefully this year. I did some research and can't find what I am looking for. I need to know if there are any Chicago suburbs (cook county) that ban Pit Bulls. I know I can probably call city hall or animal control in each city, but for now ...
