Thompson Manitoba

Is there an active ban on pitbulls in Thompson, Manitoba? Are pitbulls not at all allowed in the city? I have searched online and found very little. We might be forced to move there because of work but I'm quite nervous of the area because I know there's a ban in Winnipeg.

Re: Please help - dog trainers, behaviorists etc!!

Thanks. We basically did the treat thing, we discovered that he loves freeze dried venison. So far he has made friends with most of the staff and a few volunteers that come out a lot. He listens very well. Unfortunately has become a little neurotic or obsessive at some of the other dogs but a tasty ...

Re: Please help - dog trainers, behaviorists etc!!

I was not only looking to get advice from here I just thought it is a good place to get ideas in the meantime. Unfortunately we don't have any behaviorists or people who deal with this kind of thing in our town. I know what the most likely outcome will be I just wanted to give it my best shot first...

Re: Please help - dog trainers, behaviorists etc!!

I totally appreciate your response and we are fully aware that might end up being the case. I do agree with you but as we are a no kill shelter and have not dealt with this type of thing as of yet (we mostly get husky/sleddog mixes) we have to make an effort before we make that decision. I do agree ...

Please help - dog trainers, behaviorists etc!!

Hi everyone! I am currently the shelter manager at our local SPCA shelter. We have this pitbull that somebody has dumped on us that is severely unsocialized and very aggressive. I will tell you the story. This guy got this dog as a puppy, doesn't seem like a bad guy per se but very ignorant. They li...

in Houston

Hey guys, I don't post very often anymore but I need some help. Does anyone in the Houston area have a spot in their home to foster or give a forever home to a sweet girl? A friend of mine in Houston found her tied to the door of her apartment the other night and cannot keep her. (As it is her own d...

I knew Prince wasn't too skinny I just wanted other opinions to back me up! You guys are right, and I will be getting Prince to lose a few pounds, but tone up a bit so he stays lean and not too skinny. It is so sad how people are beginning to think of fat as normal... but not only in dogs, also in t...

Ugh see I thought so as well! That he could even lose a few pounds.. but everybody else is saying "he's skinny! I feel bad for him for living here" yadda yadda... I got into an argument with my boyfriend a few times about it... Because he agrees with them and says stuff like that seems mea...

Prince, skinny?

So my boyfriend doesn't seem to understand the concept of the amount of food that Prince is supposed to eat.. and he thinks it should be more. All of a sudden he is telling me that his parents were saying "That dog is too skinny! I feel bad for him living here, he needs to eat more!" etc e...

A dog with ear mites will scratch his ears a lot and shake his head. There will be a thick, black crusty discharge and an overall increase in ear wax. It's most common for puppies to get ear mites but dogs can get them at any age. I've had both a cat and a puppy with ear mites and they are very eas...

There is no odor, at least I didn't smell anything when I was cleaning his ear today. Also yes he does have access to a cat. I mean.. he doesn't get super close to the cat cuz the cat hates him but they do get near each other and obviously live in the same place. He has been scratching his ear a lot...
