I forgot about this thread. Here's an update. Mika is now eating (and LOVING) Merrick - her favorite is Grandma's Chicken Pot Pie. I switchi it up for her by using a little chicken broth instead of water to make the "gravy" with the kibble. Sometimes I'll add some cottage cheese (which she...

I did call the vet. Because it's been so isolated, she said to just keep an eye on her. She's back to her old self, been fine since Sunday. I've been wicked stressed out lately (I got laid off) and my vet thinks she may have been feeding off of MY stress. It's a possibility, I suppose. I still haven...

hmmm, interesting information. I've yet to hear back from this behaviorist. I'll try her again tomorrow. She's been perfectly fine since Sunday. It's weird. It's like SNAP all of a sudden she can't be separated from me, but not ALL the time, just some times... I'm not 100% on the dalmation either - ...

thank you both for responding. I did do a search, but most of the cases involved either specific circumstances or a dog who's always been anxious. I did email a local "dog whisperer" who came recommended by a friend. I'm hoping to hear back from her. She works with dogs and owners in their...

Stress/Anxiety

Please bare with me, this is a little long, but I wanted to be thorough. My 5 yr old pit/dalmation mix, Mika, has never had anxiety issues. All of a sudden, she's got 'em! She doesn't behave very well when there are "strangers" in her house - she's very protective and she gets scared easil...

Chewbecca - I've been giving Mika benedryl lately too! Although I wanted to make the food switch clean with her - so she hasn't had any benedryl for over a week. Hmmm...I wonder if it had something to do with the allergies? Mika NEVER drools either. I've only seen her like that twice...and once was ...

Just letting you all know that Mika is all fine now. I guess I was worried about nothing. I think it was just an upset tummy. She never threw up though. I was at about half and half for old and new food, so I put a little less new food and a little more old food inher bowl last night - she chomped i...

Sorry I haven't been able to log on since this morning. Thank you all for your replies and your concern. Mika is with her Gramma all day - and I've talked to my mom several times today (I was so worried this morning), but she says Mika is no longer drooling and is acting fine. Nothing spooked her. S...

I was thinking it probably had something to do with the food. Although last night she was fine and this morning she was fine...she didn't start acting funny and drooling all over the place until I was getting ready to leave for work. I'll make sure that I do the switch slowly and keep it to just a l...

Question about excessive drooling

My dog, Mika, rarely ever drools. When she does, it's usually when she's running around the yard like a maniac or she's sniffing out the chipmunk that she chases. Other than that, she never drools. This morning, when I was getting ready to leave the house, she was drooling a LOT. There were drips al...

Oh ok, I've heard a lot of talk about salmon or fish oil on here, but had no idea where to find it. So, I can just go to the store and buy fish oil capsules in the vitamin section? Use that?

haha - we've got to all stick together, right?! :)) I'm going to give it a try - I think between the variety and the canned food too - she'll be more interested in it. She's been itching a lot, shedding a lot...we've been to the vet and she's gone on prednisone which helped, but only while she was o...

She should be fine going a couple days without food, unless she has a medical condition. Even if she's just picking at the food, she should be fine. When you give in, she learns to wait and she'll get what she wants. Just put the food down for 15 minutes, pick it up if she doesn't eat it. Try that ...

My guess would be if she's eating the lower quality moist foods, she's responding to the sugar, not the texture. They actually have straight sugar, or sugary substances added. Try Merrick kibble, it makes a gravy when you add warm water. Or get a high quality kibble and add a squirt of bottled grav...
