Any foster spots?

Hi all....A friend has found a pit bull mix in Kansas City. A female 1-2 years, spayed, friendly and potty trained. Her father is ill and they can't have dogs in the house. I know its a long shot as foster spots are so scarce...but just wondering if any rescues had any spots available? I have a fema...

Updates?

I hope this thread is made a sticky. Cosmetic surgery is NOT worth the risk to your dog.

Praying your little one is doing better............

Re: Cruciate

I am def gonna ask more questions about the surgeon. He was recommended by a vet I used to work for. She refers her clients to him for this surgery and she is a vet who REALLY cares about her clients. And she cares about me so she wouldnt send me to a quack. But I am still going to ask around. I hon...

Cruciate

Last year Tilly had TTA surgery on one knee. Now, the other knee has blown and it couldnt be at a worse time. I am on commission in the vacation industry and my pay is down 50%. They are talking lay offs and I have had 5 weeks of unpaid medical leave this year. I cannot afford the full blown TTA or ...

Re: My dog has blown his knee again

Tilly had a TPLO. She is very high energy and the TTA was recommended above the TPLO because it is less fragile-at least that is what my vet said. She had it last Mon and it has been a struggle to keep her quiet but so far so good. I have a cage in my bedroom and kitchen and I am moving her between ...

Re: Sadie hurt her toe nail

That happend to Tilly recently and the vet just used a local anesth to break it off and then had me put topical antibiotic on it and it was fine. That was a dew claw-if its one of the reg nails your vet may prescribe oral antibiotics.

ACL

So about six weeks ago, Tilly started holding her rear let up. The vet took x-rays of hips-good. Knee showed inflammation but no signs of tear or rupture. She said it was an ACL strain, put my on Metacam. She said that often these end up tearing and she may need surgery if no improvement. Tilly has ...

Re: Worried about weight issues.

One thing that worked for me was filling the marrow bones with a mixture of plain non-fat yogurt mixed with a small amount of kibble and freezing it. That gives them a low calorie treat in the bone. It worked for my girl and she loves it.

Re: which ACL surgery

Thanks for the info! I have had a hard time figuring this out. It's nice to hear two stories about the success of the traditional method. I have heard that if the traditional method doesnt work, they can do the TPLO if they HAVE to-any thoughts on that? I am gonna try the rest bit for a while. I spo...

which ACL surgery

So it appears as if Tilly may need ACL surgery. She has been on NSAIDS for a month, glucosamine/chondroitin and she is still having lameness issues. I keep hearing conflicting recommendations on surgery. Tilly is very active(her favorite activity is barrel racing around trees). I had one vet say the...
