Many shelters and rescues will do pediatric spay/neuters. If you have a young, intact animal, should you do them that young? Possibly not. But it makes a lot of sense on the grand scale, when looking at the huge problems facing domestic companion animals in relation to overpopulation/homelessness.

Ugh! I screwed up the poll. I'm the one that answered > $140. I was thinking monthly, not weekly. I get paid once per month, so I buy the full month's pet food at once. I spend around $140 for my three cats' food (they get canned food only, rotation of EVO and California Natural). For the dogs, a 35...

I don't know anything to do. I just had to say that what strikes me is that there is ABSOLUTELY no shortage of morons out there. I read several of the complaint pages. These people are honestly surprised that this happened?!?!?!?

I would have huge concerns about this. Sure, no one was hurt this time, but there's no guarantee that will be the case next time. I would recommend working to find a behaviorist or trainer familiar with APBTs in your area. It's impossible to accurately assess a situation or give/follow good advice o...

Hmmm...that does seem strange. How old is she? Was she 100% house trained until recently? And for how long?

(It's not like I have a lot of ideas on this, but the more info you can provide, the more likely someone will have some thoughts for you.)

I'm a fan of the 1.5" collars on anything but a large, large dog. Just personal preference. They're big, solid, attractive collars, without looking too "bulky" or overdone. I have seen 2" collars I definitely like, but personally, I'd say 1.5" (I don't think you can go wrong...

You are using logic/research instead of experience. Something that I was accused of doing just a few posts ago. Did you know the word 'Hippocrate' isn't in the dictionary? Uhm, we're HUMANS. That's one of the few good things about being a human, the ability to use logic/reason over having to experi...

Unfortunately, many of the lower quality, cheaper foods are coated with an "animal digest" (i.e. blend of fats, or even restaurant grease) that makes it VERY yummy to dogs without improving nutrition at all. Think about trying to convince a three year old human that broccoli is better than...

But then condescention is answered with condescention. People here are not "afraid" of dog parks. Many of them have analyzed the environment provided by most dog parks and found to be unsuitable for all or at least many dogs, most especially a breed known to have dog-aggressive tendencies ...

Best wishes for your new baby to get WELL, and soon.

Unfortunately, taking on someone's throwaway dog often results in some immediate vet bills. BUT, it also results in a lot of love and joy.

Hello Jay. You've come to the right place if you want to learn. What do you do with your dogs? Agility? Confirmation? Any time of showing or performance? Have your dogs been health tested? Because of the challenges facing Pit Bulls, most here support breeding only when it is handled with the utmost ...
