I have had my bunch on Extreme Athlete for about 3 months and they are doing great. The secondary ingredients don't please me as much as my previous Dia. Nat. recipe, but the protein/fat content is very nice. I am able to feed less volume, and still get more usable nutrition, and smaller poo piles t...

why are you doing dips with ivermec for heartworm preventative? or do the dogs have mange? normally vets only do the dips due to a dog having mange, not heartworm preventative.. I included the mange aspect as an addition to just using Iver. to prevent HW. as it was included in the article I read.

If 50ml is only 33 doses, you are giving WAY too much. Or do you mean 33 doses each? Still too much... What is the dose you are using? ALSO! Clorsulon (the other ingredient in IVOMEC PLUS) is NOT recommended for use in dogs. If you must use the injectable ivermectin, please just get regular IVOMEC....

why the nasty smelly dips?? At appropriate daily oral doses ivermectin alone will cure demodex, provided your dog doesn't have reactions to the higher doses. Sorry, but I cannot give out those doses... you need to work with your vet, who should be willing to help you figure out what is best for you...

Make a note that my header should read Ivomec NOT Ivomec Plus. And the assistance of any sweet mod. to edit my title would be appreciated.

And, thanks msvette2u, your insight and wisdom are as usual, SO helpful!!

Anyone use Ivomec Plus

I am getting ready to start my crew on it soon for heartworm prevention. 50ml is $39 which is around 33 doses for my 3 critters. So almost 3 years of prevention for under $40. I can't take credit though. I found the info at beaglesunlimited.com. The same product can be used as a super cheap demodect...

Called the vet, it is gonna be a bit before we can take her in. In the meantime would benadryl be ok to give with this condition to help with her itching? And are there any OTC stop gaps at all between now and then?

Luver's skin is JACKED up

She has dry flaky patches, balding and some a bit scabby from nibbling & scratching. Mange of some sort? She gets the same Omegas as she always has, and the same food as well. Nothing in her routine has changed that I can think of. Any advice would be great.

Oops, to clarify, the Benadryl was to keep him from gnawing and scratching the spots. I actually treated them with Sulfadene. He was fully functional on the Ben., just slow moving and LAID BACK.

Is the nail clipping needed or just cosmetic? I have never clipped any of my dogs nails, and its never been a problem.

Re: Benadryl, Otis is about 55lbs. and 2/25mg capsules will make him a happy clam. He got 'em last summer for some hot spots and he was a marshmallow.

Yes, my pups get about 50-75% more food in the winter. They burn alot more calories in the cold, and while they do get a bit more meat on 'em, they aren't fatty boombalatties by any stretch. I also increase the fish oils to combat any cold related dry skin issues.

Aflatoxin is sadly WAY common in crops. Most corn is only guaranteed to be below so many PPM, NOT aflatoxin free. I just don't use corn foods, and even that doesn't mean much these days.

Forgot to add that the sweet 'taters also add carbs. I also note that all the formulas except the "pacific stream" list just "potatoes", and the P.S formula lists "potato fiber" the only use of the previously mentioned potato protein is in the cat formula. So yes, the f...
