Ilovethepits wrote:I was just reading today on truth4dogs.com and dogs4dogs.com about HW prevention meds. It's a lot of information to take in, so I'm not going to try and go over it, but I'd read it if I were you. It's very interesting.

Re: Vomiting after HW Prevention?

Do you give the heartworm preventative with a meal? Our vet told us to so I always have and haven't had any problems, so that might be worth a try if you don't already. In the past, I've always given the prevention about 4 hours after eating. My vet never mentioned making sure she's eaten. and I fi...

Vomiting after HW Prevention?

So, I've noticed a trend. My Deja girl vomits hours after taking her Tri Heart Plus. She's got other health issues right now we're looking at (blood panel indicated a slight increase in digestive enzymes and her liver enzymes were triple; thyroid is in normal range but low at 1.5 so she's also on lo...

Mickey Mouth - Can you help?

We met Mickey on May 7th and fell in LOVE! Right now, Mickey looks a little scary at first but it's anything BUT his fault. We aren't sure what happened to Mickey. He was brought into the shelter as a stray with his lip and a portion of his nose already missing. The area is VERY clean, almost like h...

I'd LOVE to find something that's got all the goodies conveniently packaged lol Austin is about 40lbs so I surely wouldn't want to be giving him too much. Are there any supplements out there with Yucca? I know horses have them but in my brief browse around last night, I didn't see anything. And some...

Recommended Joint Supplements?

We've got a dog in our foster program who is...well he's poorly built poor thing. We took him in for xrays today and all looks well so they put him on Deramaxx for pain for a week. He's not acting right now so I'm having his foster mom take him off the meds. I want to try a joint supplement and have...

Nah he's a relatively short, stand up eared boy :)

He's got some leg/hip/elbow troubles that we're gonna have checked out on Monday :)

**Update** Mia is going into a 30-day foster to adopt today! What a LUCKY girl! It only took 10 months but it seems like her new potential adopter is going to work out wonderfully :) He lives alone with one other dog he adopted last year. When he's not in school or working his PT job, he's out with ...

I would imagine that one would get the neuticles to have implanted when the neuter surgery is done so as not to needlessly open twice. Am I wrong?

I'm actually working with a girl right now who is seriously considering this option. She's not attached to the dog's balls but her son is. She is kinda the pushover type so this would allow her the option of having the procedure done and not have to tell her son about it. He'd never know! lol It's s...

Just got back from the vet. 'Venus" is getting her spay done today at my personal vet because our rescue vet had never done a spay with a prolapsed uterus before and wasn't comfortable with it. My vet commented that hers is the worst he's seen in a long time. This surgery will go a bit beyond a...
