Re: Hog Hunting--too dangerous for rescue dogs?

Yes, I take fewer dogs in for sure - but, either me keeping one or turning him/her out for hogdogging, I'd keep him/her. The question was yes/no for hogdogging, I say no for the dogs in my rescue. I think either hogdogging or uber crating are far too extreme for my taste.

Re: Hog Hunting--too dangerous for rescue dogs?

As a rescue placing dogs, and answering the question originally asked, no, dogs coming out of my rescue would definitely NOT be put into a hog hunting home. Cut out for it or not. Sorry, I think there is a BIG difference b/w going from 'a short life hunting hogs or being miserable crated all day'. I...

Re: Opinions on potential adopter needed

Sometimes, we get so many apps that are just not good and it seems like the poor ones are better than the horrible ones. This guys seems like a poor applicant (not monetarily 'poor' but excellent to horrible 'poor'). I feel like you'll be sending a dog into an unstable situation where he'll likely b...

Control Unleashed exercises would work very well with her - Leslie McDevitt wrote it and has a little dvd, too. Good stuff!

Re: floppy finish

Duh, left out the other part of it: We shaped Here (run super fast to me right away), separately from the 'front' which is a sit in tight and close (which is why she's touching me still b/c I haven't shaped it back). So, after she learned 'front', we paired it with here and asked for the 'front' as ...

Re: floppy finish

do you click or use the mark word? Here's my idea: Start over with the recall to a sit. Start from 1' back, recall her from the heel position, move away from her and recall her from right around you but not super far. You can work on speed later once she sees you are asking for 'recall' which is 'ru...

Re: Private dog park?

I 'rent-a-park' for a $20 monthly unlimited use fee. I also am allowed to use the agility ring (fully stocked) and it's included in this fee. The park is privately owner pasture, fenced with 4" x 4" hogwire, 4ft. high, creek running through and about 1.5 acres - it's ALL HILLS. Big hills. ...

OMG. I have someone who would take her but I'm sure she'll find a home closer out your way. Funny little dog.
