Re: My 3 year old dog has arthritis?!

Rather have triple post than no post.
I have always gotten better advise here than I have ever received from a vet. Thanks again.

Re: My 3 year old dog has arthritis?!

If someone has some reliable sources that they've found about dosages...please post it here.
Tons of info out there but how is one supposed to know if it's good info?

Re: My 3 year old dog has arthritis?!

That is the kind of stuff I was looking for.
I have access to multiple places to get the human versions of things and my hubby is also on most of these same thing for his back. But the dosage part is what I don't know, crossover between human and canine.

Re: My 3 year old dog has arthritis?!

I came across this thread looking for info for an upcoming TPLO surgery next week. Looking for supplements/alternative meds to help with the pre and post surgery healing along with long term support.
I would love to hear about the brands and dosages of things that everyone uses.

I was looking at a MaxiGuard Gel which uses zinc ascorbate/taurine. http://www.addisonlabs.com/OralCleansingGel.htm

Or a 1% chlorhexidine solution. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... pcatid=507

Dental products for allergy prone dog?

Layla had her dental cleaning Monday and the vet sent my hubby home with C.E.T. AquaDent water additive which has Xylitol. I work in the dental field myself and know that Xylitol isn't that good for humans and know it is toxic to dogs. I am amazed that they even carry it. We brush her teeth but have...

I wouldn't worry about it. I work for a human dentist and people survive without multiple teeth all the time.

We use the same stuff I use on me, Dr. Bronner bar soap. No real smell but rinses nice. Nice and gentle for the twice a month bath we do.

If you haven't yet, do a search and read up on the symptoms of allergies. We had tons of diagnosis problems when Layla was a puppy. The problem is most allergy symptoms are the most common for a million other issues. Thousands of dollars of tests and pills before someone put us on a plan for an elim...

Is there anything else besides redness? That is skin that is delicate, it will get red from anything and nothing. Layla has allergy/yeast issues and will get stinky yeast buildup between her toes (amongst other places).

Mint....Ok for dogs to eat?

I just bought a peppermint plant and after putting it on the patio walked away for a minute. Goofy dog ate all the top leaves off.
Does anyone know if there is any toxicity with mint?
