Fences in MD

Hey guys, I know a lot of people on this forum are from Maryland so I figured I would throw this out there. Anyone buy a fence and if so, could you pass along a referral? Bauer and I recently moved to the county (from the city) and we are living in a house without a fenced backyard. There's a big ar...

I forgot to mention one thing in the post...the house we are living at now is not mine. My girlfriend and I rent the house before we buy / get engaged. We only have about 6 mos. left on our lease so I was only looking for a quick fix. As for the cheap stair runners, are these permanent additions. Wo...

Afraid of the stairs!

Hey everyone, So, it seems Bauer has another phobia. This time, it's not the concrete jungle that is the city...it's the hardwood floor stairs. In our last house, Bauer had carpet on the stairs and he could fly up and down them like a pro. Ever since we moved to our new house though, he's not so goo...

I agree with the poster above me. If they are that hyper and they are new to each other (or don't see each other that often) you never know what could happen. Let them have their fun, but if you can't be there to supervise, separate them. And to answer your question, they will probably calm down. Th...

Help, Bauer is licking his underside raw

Does anyone know if there is any over the counter human medicine to put on sores for dog's? Let me explain the backstory a little... Bauer went to the vet for an ear infection but we later found out he has allergies. We aren't sure to what, but he was given a bunch of medicine. Some for his ears, an...

Bauer is a big licker too. Almost compulsive. He likes to ligs legs though (mainly calf). While I love the occasional lick, sometimes it's a bit much. So, what we do is make a game out of it. When he starts to lick a lot (not just a little here and there), I let him do it for a little then say stop....

Re-Training Crate

Hey guys, So the move into the city was an overall success. Bauer initially had trouble adapting to relieving himself on concrete, but with the help of some sod (large piece eventually broken down into smaller), he all but overcame it. Now we are faced with another issue...crate training...again. Ba...

The other neighborhood dogs usually go on concrete in the yards and then it's cleaned/hosed down. My family dog I had growing up constantly went on concrete (the yard had no grass at all). It's tough, but Bauer is slowly getting it. We couldn't get him to go last night before bed, but he woke up in ...

Peeing on concrete...and number 2 too :)

Bauer and I recently moved to the city. The move has been tough on both of us, but Bauer has been having a lot of trouble learning to pee on concrete (and go number 2). He has and when he does we praise him like he just cured cancer, but it's not clicking. We are spending upwards of 20-30 minutes wa...

Bauer used to do this ALL THE TIME! He has since calmed down as he gets older (he's a little over a year now), but he still does it occasionally. The barking more so than the mouthing. Bauer will mouth when we play and kind of put his mouth around my arm but rarely do I feel pressure from his teeth....

Bauer let loose in the bed twice. I thought it would be a major issue so I worried about it a lot, but come to find out, it was a two time deal.

If it keeps happening, then I would worry about it...until then, just be consistent with your training.

I have the same issue with Bauer...only its with basted bones only. Everything else he is cool with. We have been working on it by starting small (give, (take stuffed animal), good boy, (give back stuffed animal) and hopefully moving up, but I'm finding that Bauer doesn't really mind if you take the...

My girlfriend and I were talking about this the other day. Mainly because when she walked into the bedroom in the dark, Bauer let out a low growl (he was on the bed with me). But when she said "Bauer, shush" he stopped...probably because he knew it was her. In this situation, I am fine wit...

Oh, no. Please don't apologize for being so thorough. That was great! Thank you! I will try doing this from now on. We have touched on this before, but I think I need to revisit. I was really upset after this happened because I never thought Bauer would ever do something like that. It kind of hurt m...

Protective Growling over Objects

I took a glance through the forums but couldn't find anything on this topic. If there is, sorry for the repeat. Bauer is a great dog. I love him to death, but there is one thing he does that drives me nuts (and gets me worried). My neighbor is from Maine and whenever they take their annual trip up t...
