Re: Stuffed Kong on raw diet?

Plastic is porous, and plastic cutting boards have plenty of marks and grooves in them. So I can never cut raw chicken again? Really limits my cooking options. Riddle has had cancer and eats zero carbs, so yes it is hard to find Kong stuffings she can have. Melon has digestive issues and cannot hand...

Re: Stuffed Kong on raw diet?

Well, guess I can never eat chicken again, since that would require it to touch a dish before cooking! And I could never cut it into pieces before cooking, since the knife and cutting board would be forever tainted! Since it is apparently impossible to wash salmonella off. Re: Orthopedic Vet/Surgeon Recommendations in Portland?

So it WAS Tim McCarthy, although my phone apparently corrected it to McArthur. lol He was really great. I only met him a couple times, for the initial consult and then on the actual surgery day, but was very impressed. I was also inclined to trust him because not only does Riddle's ortho vet love hi...

Re: Orthopedic Vet/Surgeon Recommendations in Portland?

I CANNOT think of the name of the ortho very who fixed Riddle's elbows. My ortho vet here in Bend, who did Riddle's knees, recommended him for her elbows and he came down from Portland to do it. He did an amazing job on her elbows. I'm on my phone now, but when I can check my email on my computer I'...

Re: Stuffed Kong on raw diet?

I still give Kongs with peanut butter. You can just stuff them with raw ground meat though. Although sticking to what you described, but not using kibble would probably be fine. =] Raw meat stuffing sounds like a really bad idea to me. Just because dogs can eat gross things doesn't mean cleanliness...

Re: Winter/Cold Weather Shampoo Recommendations?

The best thing I've found for dandruff in 9 years of grooming is Nature's Choice oatmeal conditioner. It's miraculous.

Re: Dog poops way too much

How much does she weigh?

3 cups a day is a lot of a good food. Depending on how big she is, she may be overeating, which can cause diarrhea and tons of poop.

Re: ACL repair. To knife or not.

I've been talking to our local physical therapist about arthritis in Riddle's legs, since she has had TTA repairs on both knees now. I was wondering when I would see the arthritis begin, since her right knee was done 3 years ago. She told me that she so far hasn't seen a TTA dog with significant art...

Re: Zymox shampoo.

My vet gave me this over the summer for Melon's grass allergies. It was amazing! Worked great for his skin problems. And unlike other medicated shampoos I've groomed dogs with, it actually cleans well and leaves the coat soft too.

Re: Riddle's TTA recovery thread

RIDDLE IS A FREE DOG! I haven't been posting because there hasn't been anything to update until today. :) Today was Riddle's 12-week x-ray, and as expected she was released to normal activity! WOO HOO! She'll still be sore after exercise for a while- last time, she didn't completely stop limping for...

Re: Riddle's TTA recovery thread

Riddle had her 8 week x-ray yesterday! Unfortunately, she's not *quite* fully healed, so she can't be a free dog yet. She can have lots more exercise though! Now we're supposed to be doing 40 minute walks twice a day with lots of jogging, or 20 minute walks with 20-30 minutes of swimming. Finding 80...

Re: Riddle's TTA recovery thread

Riddle got to SWIM today! Only for 10 minutes. But she was sooooo excited! She paddled around like the happiest little thing ever, it really made her day. The swim replaced her evening 20 minute walk. She did her standard post-swim roll in the car: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/savage_desti...

Re: Riddle's TTA recovery thread

Well, Riddle's knee is doing great. We've got another complication in the form of her left elbow, however. She's got some arthritis in that elbow already, since (of course, it's Riddle) the bones never grew properly. We were treating that with laser therapy and underwater treadmill work before she t...

Re: TTA surgery for Riley - tips?

Oh, I just remembered the other really important thing: for the places where we have wood and linoleum flooring, we put non-skid rug liners on the floor so that Molly wouldn't slip once she was able to walk around the house. I think it did help her and certainly gave me more peace of mind. I got do...

Re: Riddle's TTA recovery thread

Another forum was demanding pics, so I'll share here too. lol. Riddle says "WHY U TAKE PICSHURS? FEED ME MOAR!" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/savage_destiny/Riddle/20120803_183825.jpg She's pretty sure having her picture taken is abuse, lol. I did NOT Photoshop these ridiculous ca...
