Thanks for the tips everyone. I could probably shoot a person, if they gave me a very very good reason to  , but I could NEVER shoot a dog, or stab it or permanently injure one.. So citronella spray or the horn sound like good options. Something I can use before things even get to the point of...

Alone, I walk my male 8 year old pit with one of my girls. I have had him for 6 years and there's not one DA bone in his body, lucky me. I know him better than I know myself! But I know my girls are different and would fight, but they never touch him.. I don't walk the girls together alone. My girlf...

Aggressive stray dogs, what do you do?

I have 3 pits that love each other. But two of them if instigated by other dogs will start a fight. I do not take them to dog parks, I take them on walks and hikes. I live in a neighborhood that has lots of strays, and I am so terrified that one day an aggressive stray dog will charge us.. What do I...

so good news, I just got back my kitty today, and she will heal just fine, it will probably take about a month or so.. She had to have her mandible wired (wire comes off in 21 days) and a tooth pulled.. but because of someone special at the shelter I was able to fix her up through the shelter for $5...

No.. I don't want to get into detail because I am still very sad, but somehow with all my carefulness this doggie got to my kitty and now my kitty is at the pet hospital and she needs teeth pulled and her jaw wired (her mandible fractured) and has a puncture on her lip. Doggy got her by the face. I ...

EMERGENCY- pitbull foster needed asap (Oakland, CA)

I am fostering a dog that is the only one kept alive from an East Bay Michael Vick type bust.. She was used as a breeding dog, and must have had quite a few litters. Because they didn't know who the dad was they put down 11 pups of hers. :( Now this only :crybaby: survivor needs a second chance in l...

A prong collar, on any other tool used, should be used hand in hand with training and positive reinforcement. A lot of pet owners misuse tools meant for training, by only relying on them and not knowing how to use them or doing the research. I still suggest if you are going to use one look for the t...

thanks KadillacGrrl. My pits aren't serious fighters and most of my fosters haven't been very DA so I am lucky. I have a million leashes everywhere, just what happens when you do a lot of rescue, so that's good! My only question is this: So you have two pits fighting and one has a really strong grip...

A water hose works great, if you have a fight in your yard, etc. I foster a lot and sometimes when my dog is playing with the foster dog, until I get to know the foster real well, I am out there with a water hose, ready to break up a fight. Definately panicking, screaming :po: , HITTING, crying :cry...

um, aren't e-collars what you put on a dog after they have surgery, etc, so that they don't chew up stitches or mess with wounds?

Keep their play sessions short and end them quickly on a good note. Try also putting Sadie away after the play session and staying outside with Lexie and playing more games with her alone, like tug'0'war or fetch. Allow her to settle down and relax before going back in the house. Set up your house s...
