Re: Fed a raw bone but still puking up sharp pieces

Hey everybody. Chase has made it through. A lot of huge poops and another puke (of course on the carpet -the puke not the poop) he is fine again.
And I'm done giving him soup bones.

Re: Fed a raw bone but still puking up sharp pieces

Ruby will occasionally barf up pork bone fragments or chicken leg/thigh fragments from her dinner - always eeeaarrly the next morning. That bother me when it happens but seem to be fairly routine and not every time... Don't overgeneralize, Chasesmom... I occasionally feed the little round 'soup bon...

Re: Fed a raw bone but still puking up sharp pieces

Well this will definitely be the last one he gets after the piece I saw he puked up this morning. Poor guy :crybaby: I'll feed him a cup this afternoon and maybe some bread too. Shows how ignorant I am, I thought as long as it wasn't cooked it's game on. I'm scared to feed him little chicken bones a...

Fed a raw bone but still puking up sharp pieces

Yesterday, I gave Chase a beef soup bone RAW for him to gnaw on. Today, he puked up this very sharp piece of bone. I thought raw bones were supposed to be safe?? He's had them before and didn't have problems. Anything I can do to make sure the pieces he has in him come out safely? I fed him some ext...

Re: Eating dirt.

I wouldnt worry about it too much, I was in lowes the other day and there was a pregnant lady eating dirt out of a bag with a spoon, I am not kidding at all. So apparently if pregerrs ladys can eat it, it wont hurt the dogs? NFW! What a weirdo...hopefully it was a brownie mix or crunched up oreos o...

Re: Confused newbie

More than likely you have a pit bull or pit bull mix. Amstaffs aren't as common and I doubt a backyard breeder would be breeding amstaffs. Some would say it doesn't matter either way because the differences can be quite insignificant unless you're buying from a reputable breeder. Probaby just label ...

Re: Hip surgery AGAIN, need experiences please

We're also in the market for a hip surgery on Chase and the doc seems to think he'll do fine with the FHO procedure. This thread is helpful so thanks. Couldn't you do the FHO (financially less) first and then if you don't like the results move on to the THR?

Re: Pet insurance -impossible with existing problem

Thanks everybody. I'm going to start calling around this week and see what I can find out. We started a separate savings, but we're a long way away from the almost 5k we will need for total hip replacement. I just don't want him to be in pain anymore. It sucks watching him limp around the house and ...

Re: Pet insurance -impossible with existing problem

I don't see how it wouldn't be worth it. You'd pay about $5000 for 13 years of insurance, and you'd pay $5000 or more for some life saving surgeries. I think the money speaks for itself. Are you really going to put away enough money a year to pay for something to save his life, and then pass up the...

Pet insurance -impossible with existing problem

Would it be impossible to get Chase insurance with the hip problem that we've just come across? Never got it before even after looking in to it because I read threads saying it wasn't worth it and online saying it wasn't worth it..but dammit, now this has come up, seems like it would have been worth...

Re: Bah..bummer. Bad hips

Thanks for the words and advice. I'm going to look in to that Sasha's Blend right now. keira&phoenix - why did they only give your dog 5 years to live with leg problems? Sorry for asking but I'm not very educated on the subject and I didn't know they would give a dog a limit due to hip displaysi...

Re: Bah..bummer. Bad hips

Leslie - I'd love to hear what things you are talking about as we got some bad news yesterday :( Met with the vet at around 530 last night. He showed us the xrays of Chase's knees and he said that he doesn't see anything alarming about his knees. He said while he and the other doc were doing the kne...

Bah..bummer. Bad hips

Dropped Chase off at the vet this morning to be sedated and get his leg looked at (possible torn acl). Vet called and left a voicemail saying that while they were doing his knees they noticed some hip issues and took xrays of those and needs to talk to us about them when we pick him up...which isn't...

Yeah lol It's more like slop. I had been wanting some spinach so I just grabbed a can. I liked it though.
