Re: Thyroid fun for everyone.

If it's better to just shell out for a Hemopet one, then I will. Not sure if you guys have any feedback on that... ? I do. If I think that clients need to check thyroid levels for behavior issues, I usually insist that they get their vets to send a blood sample to Hemopet and run more complete thyr...

Re: Severe Anxiety

We're doing one Prozac a day until her anxieties completely seem to dissipate. After that, we cycle through one more prescription of Prozac before weaning her off of it for two months. If her anxieties returned, back on the Prozac we go. I have a feeling she will just be a Prozac dog for the rest o...

Re: IMHA and ITP

Have a dog on daily Prednisone lower dosage and did not see any shivering, even with post hospitalization greater dosage (pancreatitis and other on going issues).

I am VERY happy about your pup's CBC! Hope things only go better from now on.

Re: Severe Anxiety

I don't want to dope her up on medications or have her be just a lump on the couch because of her medicine. I want her to have a good quality of life because as it stands her quality isn't the greatest. She spends a good 70-80% of her day panicking or having a meltdown because I'm not home. I want ...

Re: IMHA and ITP

My experience with IMHA was devastating, but I am not going in details as I don't want to add negative thoughts. Dogs have recovered from IMHA, and I hope yours will be one as well. Hang in there. What's his PVC now?

Buddy aka "The Log"

Buddy was an intact stray in Lancaster CA and, luckily for him, an active duty military man took him off the streets. The Lancaster mayor wants to see all pit bulls gone so Buddy would have been gone very quickly if picked up by Animal Control. Could not find a rescue to take him and he is my care n...

Re: Cyclosporine for IBD

Tux has been on Budesonide for a while now, and he has not gained a thing.I asked for an EPI test (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) last week, which was negative. His ACTH test done on Monday resulted in little if no cortisol produced. On top of IBD he has Atypical Addison's and tomorrow his adrena...

Re: histiocytoma - how long do i wait before opting for surg

Hi there. My Jack just had 4 growth removed on Monday, one sent to lab, and the others were fatty cysts and one skin tag. The one that looked "angry" because of scratching and dragging on the carpet was sent to lab and the result came back today as histiocytoma. I opted to have it removed ...

Re: Pet Insurance

Just wanted to add good reviews for the pet insurance I have, Healthypaws. Fast and reliable customer service, 90% vet bill reimbursement (my plan) and always a nice note added in return to my claim. Tux's care has been thousands of dollars just this year and the insurance has been a huge help. This...
