freaks out over ear drops

buddy got a bad ear infection but before it got bad i tried to put medicine in his ears and he runs and hides or jerks his head so bad that i couldn't do it well enough to help. they got bad enough that he had to be taken to the vet- he got a shot and of course they gave me more ear medicine (except...

hope emma is better, if not you might want to check for blockage. buddy ate a big chunk of tennis ball and puked everything up and felt terrible. then started with the yellow bile puke, got dehydrated and had to have fluid IV before he could pass it. hope emma just had a temporary upset tummy

glad buddy's not the only one then and that he's not going nuts. i had never seen anything quite like that before, i might have thought he could be having a seizure or something if he wasn't otherwise normal. i swear his tongue was just like a snake darting in and out very fast, with his jaw clickin...

tongue & lip twitching

folks, this is really weird. buddy was waiting for me to toss his favorite toy. he sat then curled his tongue into a circle and darted it in and out like a snake. while doing that his jaw was popping up and down and his lip and tongue were twitching and quivering like crazy. i've never seen anything...

pushy for petting

buddy's a great dog and listens to me just fine, but does not obey my husband well at all. buddy is pushy with him when he wants to be petted, he gets in the recliner next to george's and hovers till he gets petted or pushed away. this is not a problem with me, he sits for petting, food, or toys-pre...

no, he doesn't have ear problems and doesn't lick his butt (thank goodness because he is such a face licker!). i also didn't really see that much dirt on his feet either. he ate the same thing he always does, but he licked those feet for a long time-so that's why i thought he may have caught and eat...

metallic breath & feet licking

last night buddy kept licking all 4 of his feet and his breath had a metallic smell- not bad breath odor just kinda like metal. he didn't act sick & seems fine but what was that all about? is it something to be concerned about or just maybe a food reaction- although he didn't have anything unusu...

slammin' the kong

buddy is getting better at getting treats out of his kong- he raises it in the air then slams it to the floor over and over till the stuffings fall out. he licks for a while but now he does a lot more slamming. funny to watch but sure makes a mess!

yeah, i think it is just a new thing to do. my nephews chase him when he runs off with his toy, he seems to enjoy teasing with it- the kids like it too. the prancing thing is a hoot to watch, he looks like a lipizzaner on parade. i wanted to mention, the new hurley toy is still intact! i can't belie...

prancing and playing "keep away"

my dog has always loved fetch but now he brings it to me and takes off prancing around when i reach for it. he gets all excited and does the same prance when he gets a new toy. he lifts his feet and head high like the prancing horses and goes up to everyone to show it off, then teases us by acting l...

i feed raw along with either natural balance or solid gold kibble. sure has made my beagle's coat softer and she no longer has allergies. buddy and harry (the chow) has done very well with it also. amazing how much better they do now than with the crappy grocery store brands. i had no idea until i c...

wow, that must have been terrifying! the tennis ball piece buddy had eaten was part of an air kong that looked like dumbells. he couldn't have swallowed the whole thing but i will definitely be more careful and make sure all his fetch toys have no damage. the ones he likes best are the ruffian squea...

beware of tennis balls!

now that i can post, i can warn others to be sure to be extra careful with the tennis ball type toys. i am sure some of you have already mentioned this but i thought i would say it again. buddy nearly died from swallowing a huge piece of one. if not for the IV fluids helping lubricate after he got s...

now that buddy seems fine once again, maybe i should do a proper re-intro. we live in alabama and i took buddy in after coming home and finding him in my garage- he was about 6 months old. sad to say, i had never considered the breed because of all the negative hype (now i know better). my sister's ...
