hope emma is better, if not you might want to check for blockage. buddy ate a big chunk of tennis ball and puked everything up and felt terrible. then started with the yellow bile puke, got dehydrated and had to have fluid IV before he could pass it. hope emma just had a temporary upset tummy

no, he doesn't have ear problems and doesn't lick his butt (thank goodness because he is such a face licker!). i also didn't really see that much dirt on his feet either. he ate the same thing he always does, but he licked those feet for a long time-so that's why i thought he may have caught and eat...

metallic breath & feet licking

last night buddy kept licking all 4 of his feet and his breath had a metallic smell- not bad breath odor just kinda like metal. he didn't act sick & seems fine but what was that all about? is it something to be concerned about or just maybe a food reaction- although he didn't have anything unusu...

i feed raw along with either natural balance or solid gold kibble. sure has made my beagle's coat softer and she no longer has allergies. buddy and harry (the chow) has done very well with it also. amazing how much better they do now than with the crappy grocery store brands. i had no idea until i c...

wow, that must have been terrifying! the tennis ball piece buddy had eaten was part of an air kong that looked like dumbells. he couldn't have swallowed the whole thing but i will definitely be more careful and make sure all his fetch toys have no damage. the ones he likes best are the ruffian squea...

beware of tennis balls!

now that i can post, i can warn others to be sure to be extra careful with the tennis ball type toys. i am sure some of you have already mentioned this but i thought i would say it again. buddy nearly died from swallowing a huge piece of one. if not for the IV fluids helping lubricate after he got s...

now that buddy seems fine once again, maybe i should do a proper re-intro. we live in alabama and i took buddy in after coming home and finding him in my garage- he was about 6 months old. sad to say, i had never considered the breed because of all the negative hype (now i know better). my sister's ...

hi chad and macho! i had just commented on a 3 legged dog at the vet (border collie i think) who tried to have my dog for lunch. macho is a great looking dog, thank you for giving him a good home- you are so right, they are awesome!

oh, i forgot to mention- even with all the poking, prodding, and needle sticking, he still loved on the vet before we left like he was the greatest thing ever. he tried to be friends with all the dogs he saw although several lunged or growled at him for no reason- one 3 legged dog wanted to eat him ...

yaaaay! he ate without throwing up- first food in 4 days. guess the tennis ball piece was the culprit, he is actually playing and wanting to fetch. i'm not letting him have anything else to chew on when i can't be right there to supervise. i bought the expensive "tenacious chewer" dog toys...

just got back from the vet- he let him come home as a trial to see if he would eat. he seems to feel much better since the IV and antibiotics, and went first thing to poop- i got a stick and poked around in it (sounds gross i know) to see if it had any foreign objects - it was a huge wad of grass an...

thanks, i'm about to call the vet to check on him- he can't seem to figure out the problem so he had to stay the night and run even more tests. i get a knot in my stomach every time i call fearing it might be bad news. it is so lonely here without him. the vet let me stay and visit for a couple of h...

he is vomiting green and is very uncomfortable and lethargic (compared to being usually very active. i can tell he feels very bad, he won't eat at all and will drink a couple of laps of water every hour or so. if he drinks more than a few laps he throws it up and it is green. i took him to the vet s...

i took him to the vet saturday morning and he didn't seem too concerned because he didn't have a fever-but i know this baby is sick! he's going back tomorrow and i will demand tests, but i just wanted to try to help him tonight if i could since he feels so bad. the emergency clinic is useless and i ...
