unlikely but possible rabies exposure

Ok so I just let my dogs out and they either found a medium sized dead animal, or killed it themselves. Either way I don't own a flashlight to go see what it was and remove it from the yard. I have 2 questions. Should I be bringing them in for a rabies booster now? Or can it wait til tomorrow when I...

Re: Limping on previously repaired knee

He had tightrope surgery, it's relatively a new procedure. It's more stable than a tie back, and less invasive than a TPLO

Limping on previously repaired knee

So Jd had his cruciate repaired earlier this year, and in general has been doing really well on it. He is slower than he used to be and definitely won't be doing agility in his future or anything, but he was walking on it very well and seemed comfortable. Flash forward to yesterday morning, we went ...

Re: allergies and staph infections oh joy...

ugh, I had subscribed to this thread...but it's not showing up in my emails.... right now i'm focused on getting them over their staph infections, which seem to be improving. I really am concerned it will happen again though...The food I have them on is high in Omega fatty acids...both 3 and 6...so ...

Re: allergies and staph infections oh joy...

i'm sorry that totally came out wrong lol...advice is great :) I just meant I didn't have a very specific question. It is very frustrating...this is Jds 2nd staph infection in 3 months...and Mayas first ever. Jd is 2 1/2 and Maya is 16 months. She had pyoderma with her first heat but that went away ...

allergies and staph infections oh joy...

So i'm not really looking for advice per se...just people to help me cope lol Both Jd and Maya are on antibiotics for the next 3 weeks at least, and benadryl long term. I can't afford atopica, and don't want to start steroids...they both have allergies, and have developed secondary staph infections....

Re: Is it HA or anxiety?

I contacted a behaviorist and am waiting for a response. I also re-ran all the possibilities multiple times about what happened...it just wasn't adding up. The only way they could have gotten out ( I checked the gate) was if someone was trying to get into, or out of the yard. He couldn't have pushed...

Re: Is it HA or anxiety?

He's really never left outside alone, I had opened the door to let them both out and turned around to grab something before I followed...it's my own fault...I should have known better...I do know better. They said they aren't going to report it...and really tried to make me feel better about it. I j...

Is it HA or anxiety?

So I am completely lost right now, Jd pushed through the gate and out of the yard today and wound up biting the 16 yo boy that lives in the other part of the house, I didn't see what happened. The bite is minor, it looks like when the kid jumped into the back of the pick up truck Jd nipped his side....

Re: Histocytomas?

JD had one that was about the size of a half dollar...we had it removed only because it seemed to bother him. You could leave it to go away on it's own, but if it's becoming a bother, or starting to become an open wound, i'd have it removed. We also aspirated it which just made it more inflamed, whi...

Re: Sick pup? Opinions please...

The only thing I can tell you, is you know your own pup, if you are concerned bring him in sooner. Usually pups with obstructions would continue vomiting, and not be eating. At least thats what i've seen in practice. Good luck. Hope he feels better soon

Jd is trying to give me a heart attack!

So...we are 3 weeks post op on his cruciate, and all is looking well :) Then this morning he eats his bottle of Rimadyl! He never does this crap! So off to the hospital we go. Made him vomit, gave him charcoal and subq fluids...back twice tonight for more fluids, and a blood test in the morning...if...

Re: Should I call the vet? What is this?! PICS

I'm glad you took him in! I posted a few months ago about Peanut's weird lumps Turned out to be staph infection too. And after I posted that, she got the red spots just like your pup in the same places on her belly/ groin area! Back to the vet where we found out it was another staph infection along...
