The sprinkler idea is genius!!! Pure genius!!! This whole story reminds me of this one crazy lady in my old neighborhood that would walk three Shelties on those retractable leashes and they were always about 20 feet away from her. One time I was rollerblading with my little Jack Russell and I did no...

electronic collar straps by Souldier!

Hello everyone! Here are some straps that I make for e-collars. I originally decided to make them because firstly the plastic coated straps that usually acompany the e-collar don't allow air flow whatsoever, secondly I wanted something that was easy to put on and take off, and last but not least I j...

Oddnarb: We are totally on the same page my friend. As am I, but I absolutely despise when someone thinks that e-collar training is the be-all-and-end-all of training devices. Hope you didn't get that impression of me... I don't think it is. :)) I'm just trying to dispell myths... Heck I use treats...

I can't use an e-collar with Snoopy. Well, I mean I could if I wanted to break his spirit. He is a very soft dog and he doesnt require the use of an e-collar. So while yes, he can be trained with an e-collar he will only do it because he's afraid of what might happen if he didnt do what was asked/c...

Odnarb: Yes exactly! I'm reading "Be the pack leader" by Cesar Millan and I just came across this quote: I believe there are many ways to help a dog become balanced - and they include both positive reinforcement techniques and humane corrections. Ultimately, the goal is the same - to help ...

Your choice.I am spending my money learning how to work around behaviors problems without aversion. Sure it is challenging working on one of my males who would like nothing more than to kill another dog.But using a shock collar is not my idea of work.If you are happy using aversion with your dog th...

All nice talking (welcome back Skoth, by the way) but the criteria for the use of aversive stimulations in an effective manner are not easily met. To determine the magnitude of the aversive stimulus is difficult. If the dog receives the aversive stimulus, the shock, and the intensity is not enough ...

SKoth: EXACTLY. Well said. E-collars can be wonderful training aids, but in the wrong hands can totally mess up a dog. The pet store where I bought my collar doesn't sell them to the general public because of this -> you have to pay for the training session and get the collars through your trainer.

Many people do not believe in using corrections on their dogs, while I do not want to discredit positive reinforcement training, I have to say that I have had better results with using proper corrections to dispel unwanted behavior. I am also a strong advocate of e-collar training. Both of my dogs a...

My fiance and I try our best to have an eco-friendly and healthy household for ourselves and our pets. We used to be part of the Melaleuca Wellness Company but found it to be too expensive and hated having to purchase a certain amount of product every month. Recently we came upon a product called Pi...

Northern Ontario Canada here... right near the snowbelt too! I must admit, I slack on my exercise regimen for myself and my dogs during the winter months. Where I live we don't even have sidewalks and people drive rather fast and it scares me a little. Although nothing replaces a walk with your dogs...
