He mainly jumps at me and a little with my wife. It doesn't matter how much I yell, he'll continually do it until I take him by the collar and make him sit. I think the major problem is that he is also reunited with our two other dogs at this point, all the dogs are excited and it gets a bit chaotic...

Thanks for the help, Amie, when I turn my back he jumps into my back (almost knocking me over) then runs round to the front and jumps again. Tiva, that's an interesting suggestion. When no one is at home we leave him in a separate area with a kong. When we arrive and let him out the other dogs are w...

jumping and biting (excited behavuoir)

I've got lots of useful info from this site, my dog is now very well behaved except for one thing Jumping and biting. This happens when I haven't seen him for sometime, usually when I come home from work (when I'm not around he is kept is a separate room, while the other dogs are outside). He will j...

SiamPitBull, three dogs create a whole new world when it comes to dogs, and at the age of your 10 month old, he is going to try to push everyone to see if he can rise to the top or where he belongs. What happens with three dogs is one is the "top dog" one is the servant.. the third tussle...

I've had success with my APBT, but have real problems with my other two. One is a 10 month old pup (mutt), food aggressive and dominant. The other is a gentle 7 yr old (also mutt). She's much bigger than the pup, but the pup realized she could dominate and started to over the past week or so. Two da...

I haven't read the whole thread, but would like to add what I experienced with our dogs. We rescued a young pup, Mill. She had a few problems, including dominance and aggression (particularly around food). Our older dog is very submissive which made it worse. We tried a heap of things but they didn'...

I would take the tennis ball away (unless you like baiting him). When he starts running, praise him. But yeah, sounds like you are doing fine. I am baiting him, if I take the ball away he'll stop. Although he's improving, I now stand quite a distance away. I think in a little while I want have to u...

Well, I got the slat mill and he's able to run on it. I have to bait him with a tennis ball on a string, which is fine, except he lunges at the tennis ball. If I hold it too far away he'll slow down and even stop running, if it's too close he's more inclined to lunge. He does seem to be improving. A...

It's shame because a springpole is a great toy for lots of breeds, not just APBT's. I'll be using mine for my Pit and my Bulldog. I think my Bulldog will enjoy it more than my pit but we'll see. I'm going to make the call this week to find out for sure. I'm just not sure who to call exactly. My APB...

Well I can tell you that in Stark County Ohio if you posses if you posses a spring/flirt pole or a treadmill that has not been documented by AC it can ( and most likely will) be used as evidence of dog fighting in and of it's self. So you can (in stark county) be charged with either dog fighting or...

I was using kongs, but my dogs too clever and would chew thru the rope. I now use soft knotted rope and motorbike inner tubes, the whole set up cost about $3.

Okay, I have a lot of experience in slat mills mainly because I actually do competitions on them with my dogs. It is 100% normal for them to be freaked out at first, trust me! They will look awkward and goofy but it is only because they are not quite sure about being able to run on something but no...

You can throw kongs into large buckets of water and watch your dogs 'duck dive' to get them. A good way for them to cool down and have fun. This is what I did, then I got the crazy idea to build a pool deep enough for them to swim in, you can see it in the other thread. Sounds like your dogs will be...

Starting a dog on a slat mill

I'm getting a slat mill in a couple of days. When we ordered it we had our 10 month pup try it out. First he walked thru it, then we thru the ball, which he chased. After a couple of times we'd hold the lead tight so he couldn't go anywhere and he was able to run. But we let him off pretty quick as ...

Nice idea :) Was thinking of some kinda swim tank but had no idea where 2 start, thanx for the idea  We've had to enforce strict opening and closing times on our pool. Our older was completely ignoring us! The APBT isn't that crazy about swimming, but will duck to the bottom looking for s...
