Re: Teaching toddler how to behave with the pibble?

We have the same issue with our almost 18 month old. He likes to poke Avery in the eye or stick his fingers in her mouth, ears, etc. He's just so curious - we typically just say no, and remove him from the situation - distract him with something else. Avery is pretty good about getting up and leavin...

Re: Goughnut suggestions needed...

Try washing it off ?
I know my old girl wouldn't play with a cuz toy until it was washed with dish soap because it smelled so strongly of rubber

Re: Goughnut suggestions needed...

I'd definitely try the pb...
some dogs just arent interested in chewing those sorts of things...
My older female won't touch anything like that - never has...but Avery loves nylabones, galileo bones and anything rubber...she's a chew-a-holic.

Good luck.

Re: Hello From Canada

Yes, I am well aware of the risks involved. He stays indoors except when we walk around our neighbourhood. We live in Ottawa and I don't know about the rest of the province but they're not as strict as they were when the ban was first imposed. I was under the impression that the dog would have to a...

Re: Keeping the Water Bowl Clean

This is a general question to everyone on how to best keep a self feeder style water bowl clean. I live in Southern California, about 2 miles from the ocean so we have some humidity, but the climate is mostly dry. I have a water bowl that self fills from a reserve tank, and I notice after just a fe...

Re: Question about the sit/stay

I think if the dog can safely practice sit/stays offleash (i.e in an area where if she breaks the stay she won't get hit by a car, etc) then I would practice them offleash. If your not comfortable practicing without a leash because of environmental dangers then obviously practice onleash, use a long...

Re: Greetings from Southern Ontario!

good call :)

I rescued my pit mix and the rest of her litter from Ontario...Animal Control euthanized their mother when they were only 3.5 weeks old and wanted to put the pups to sleep as well. All 7 of them now have great homes in Nova Scotia where they live muzzle free...:)

Re: Greetings from Southern Ontario!

Welcome! If I were you I'd keep his paperwork, etc stating he is a retriever mix. If you start broadcasting he's a pit mix you could be in a whole heap of trouble. Pitbulls and the substantially similar are banned in Ontario under Bill 132 (if your not familiar you should really do your research) ht...

Re: Lucy: Won't fetch consistently / Not very active. My fa

How old is Lucy? If you can find a toy she really likes then stick with it....sounds like she enjoys the ball in sock to fetch... My girl Avery didn't start to get heavy into fetching until she was about a year old...and thats mostly because my other 2 dogs are crazy about fetching so eventually she...

Re: Lucy: Won't fetch consistently / Not very active. My fa

Sounds like you've just got a mellow/laid back pittie.....some are like that, others arent...
I wouldn't worry to much about her activity level...sounds like shes a perfectly healthy, happy girl whose comfortable with the excercise she gets.
