Re: TEXAS STATEWIDE

Dead! We made it through the regular session without BSL. There will be a special session but they can only consider bills of specific topics the Governor allows and animals isn't going to be one of them.

We are safe for another year and a half but beware of local governments passing BSL illegally.

Re: Illinois Pit Bull Owners - and all dog lovers!

I have heard nothing about this either. It's pretty disturbing. There was a hearing on March 8 - does anyone have an update?

Re: TEXAS STATEWIDE

I searched the TX legislature website every way I knew how and I didn't find the infamous felony Cynthia Kent bill on there, so I am assuming we are talking about HB 998. Whenever I or anyone else spoke to legislators about the original proposal, they all said they didn't support the bill as written...

Re: TEXAS STATEWIDE

It's BSL by proxy, not BSL exactly BUT it's very easy to imagine them tacking on BSL to it. It still needs to be fought. Dogs should not be singled out when people who have swimming pools, guns and knives in the house are not subject to this requirement! 82R2547 JSC-D By: McClendon H.B. No. 998 A BI...

Re: Oklahoma statewide - SB 362 to remove Anti-BSL

The below is from Joan Morrison, longtime OK resident and treasurer of the Endangered Breeds Association. The Oklahoma Legislature is in session and so far there are two bills which will require the services of a lobbyist. That means donations are urgently needed for Oklahoma. Endangered Breeds ...

Donations for EBA to be auctioned off at ADBA Convention

The ADBA Convention in Las Vegas is coming soon - March 5 & 6, 2011. The Endangered Breeds Association is having an auction at the Saturday night banquet. This is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year. Donations are welcome! This is a good way to advertise your business and show your...

Re: Pit-proof kennels?

Ditto on the Magnum Kennels. They are sold at Tractor Supply. I would check what kind of latches they are shipping them with now - for a while they weren't great but can be replaced.

Re: TEXAS STATEWIDE

BSL never costs any money! Never! In this case, it would cost the state nothing. The local governments (who are seriously broke) would have to pick up the tab. But the state legislators don't worry about that. Last year, I looked at the fiscal notes for all the animal bills presented. As far as I ca...

Re: Garland, Tx Enacting ILLEGAL BSL

Incidentally, this is total BS: In the past, the City of Garland did not adopt out pit bulls. If an owner didn't come to claim the dog at the pound, it was eventually euthanized. But the city plans to start adopting out certain pit bulls. "A dog that is an appropriate dog for being adopted, no ...

Re: Important FL BSL alert

I am very impressed with the caliber of people in Florida working on this. I believe this is the most important case in the entire USA right now, and it's in good hands. Of course the legislature can always be up to sneaky, underhanded tricks and there is only so much you can do about that. But, the...
