Thanks for all the input- I guess I just wanted a little reassurance- but regardless I'll keep an eye on him and definitely mention it at his next vet check- My avatar of the sleeping dog, that's all I feel like I see of him nowadays- just a little sleepy ball of dog. lol

Re: :O)

My suggestion is to have a vet check out his heart and thyroid. Good suggestion- unfortunately we're about to move and money is a little tight so we'll probably have to wait until we get settled in Portland. His skin is dry which is consistent with hypothyroidism in humans... but he's also skinny a...

his resting HR is about 40 bpm- no murmur that I could hear, but I'm not a cardiologist... or a vet for that matter.

If it's the backyard, can you keep him inside? Get a dog gate and keep him in the kitchen when you're out? Then you can watch him all the time he's outside and see if you can find the trigger. BTW it doesn't need to be something new he's been exposed to- everyone has mentioned this- but continuous e...

heat makes him lethargic

This is the first summer we've had our pit, he's a rescue so he's about 1 1/2-2yrs (not a puppy) and now that it's started getting hot and humid here in NYC, he's gotten sooooo lazy. And it's not that hot here- we haven't gotten higher than a couple of days in the mid 80s. Usually on walks his tongu...

Sorry, I'm new to this- Now I've read the rest of the posts- Looking at the Nutro webpage, they show the ingredients (Natural Lamb & Rice for large dogs) : Lamb Meal, Ground Rice, Rice Flour, Rice Bran, Rice Gluten, Poultry Fat (preserved with mixed Tocopherols, a source of natural Vitamin E), N...

Any BSL areas to avoid when driving I-90?

We're about to drive across country with our pit and I'm worried about running into BSL trouble in some little town on I-90. Anyone know of specific areas to avoid?

After reading all this I just got a dremmel- We live in NYC and Jayne gets walked on concrete all the time, but it's not enough. I got him used to the dremmel by using my fiance's razor- I turned it on and held it near his paws when he was good and tired, then touched it to his nails. After that the...

Hi from Sam & Jayne (NYC moving to Portland OR)

Hi Everyone, My name is Sam and my fiance and I are first-time pit owners. Our pup is Jayne (for all you Firefly fans out there) and he's about a year and a half and we've had him for 9 months. He's a rescue, found abandoned in Queens. We got him through Woof Dog Rescue here in NYC. We set out to ad...
