Re: Breaking up a fight with 2 or 3 dogs

Well I have to say I dont know so much about the breaking stick. My dog has been in 3 fights, first time I got off second best when using the breaking stick. He simply released and charged again with my arm being first as sight of attack - wasnt quite the effect I was looking for ;-) The other 2 tim...

I normally walk away and go back inside the house because then there doesnt seem to be any tension - probably not the best to do because its not solving the problem. Even if my male walks away when Im around the female will go to the far end where he is lying to challenge him...

Well we dont use crates here in South Africa but my house has fairly high walls although I do need to separate my male and female every now and again. All I have noticed though is that some dogs just dont like to have their freedom taken away. My male is fine with being locked up but my female is pr...

thanks i will check out the book.

she seems to know her place when it comes to food, my male on the other hand has the problem with food aggression, especially bones and if his kibble gets messed around his bowl. toys haven't been a problem from either side so far.

thanks again.

cheers,

Jealous Behaviour

I hope someone has got some good advice for me.... My female (10 month old) has become very over-protected over me towards my male (1 yr 3 months old) in the last month or so. Whenever I'm with them outside she basically surrounds me snarling at my male all the time and once or twice a fight has bro...

Viper, my 9 month old male attacked my Boerboel last weekend over food but I have learnt quite a lot from other members on the forum since my post and they suggested I read this info http://www.pbrc.net/fightinfo.html which has really helped a lot and I hope it can benefit you as well.

We've unfortunately had a couple of incidents here in South Africa where pit bulls have attacked kids... but theres always a story behind the story. The last incident I can remember was a case where the dog was aggrivated by kids walking passed the gate, the dog managed to get through the gate attac...

I can definately relate to the aggresion. This is my little Diva: http://www.afrosaiassembly.com/hondjies/10.jpg From the day we got her (9 weeks old) she showed major aggresion when playing especially when holding her head down. I tried the holding technique till she calmed down but no luck. From w...

Well Jazzy I'm still studying Viper's off-leash behaviour but when I got Viper I went through intensive "Junior Leash Training" with him and I can tell you one thing my Viper is a talker!! He makes the strangest sounds especially when he's in the company of other dogs, you can only imagine...

Dont get me wrong my plan is to separate them completely, Im just getting them used to their own bowls while I supervise. Remember it's only Viper and my 2 month old female pup at the moment which doesnt seem to be a problem because Viper doesnt snarl or bark at Diva yet. From next week they will be...

Thanks. My 2 love the raw stuff especially chicken hearts, yummee!! So I think I'm going to stick to the raw diet and after reading the BARF thread it seems like some dont feed veggies at all. I suppose its not a bad thing considering that dogs are carnivores and in their natural environment they wo...

Well Im taking evryones advice but it's one step at a time because they dont want to feed by themselves yet so they each have their own bowl now but I just supervise while they eat.

Thanks,
