Re: Am Veterinary Med Assn ruling against Raw Pet Foods

To me, this ruling changes nothing. Most vets will continue to advise against raw feeding (which they already do) and I will still continue to feed raw. To me it's a no-brainer, *I* feel better when I eat fresh, unprocessed foods versus Power Bars all day so tell me why it's better for an animal, wh...

Re: OH NOESSSSS Lady Bug steps in a fire ant mound

Poor thing :( Xdog suffered a fire ant bite a few weeks ago while we were in Austin. Benadryl, cortisone cream, and warm betadine/soap soaks kept her comfortable during the healing process and kept infection at bay. Here's to a speedy recovery!

Re: "Cigarette Smoke can cause Allergic Dermatitis in Dogs"

cigerette smoke is also responsible for bladder cancer in dogs and cats. I was just about to say, just remember that both dogs and kids have much smaller organs than us with which to process toxins, so second hand smoke can really do a number on them. I used to smoke and would be sure to do it outs...

Re: Tucker doesn't like kibble ...

Do his teeth line up okay or is his bite funny because of his pronounced underbite? I wonder also if letting his kibble soften in a bit of water could help. This is something to take into consideration. Recently my friend's dog has been more and more picky about eating kibble. The "Little Prin...

Re: Meet Zoey!

I changed her name to Nikki (Zoey is too common) and we have started foundation training toward a hopeful agility or obedience career. Hell, she is obviously going to be hare a while and she is a delightful dog. Well, might as well have fun with her while she's there... after all, she is the best d...

Re: MI - Remy Needs a Place!

No, thankfully. The dog was given away to an unscrupulous individual that I warned her about after we had settled on a good home, done interviews, home check and told the family they were getting the dog. It's a very sore subject for me and one more notch in why a lot of people who own this breed t...

Re: Honest Kitchen - how much do you feed?

I feed on the high end of their recommendation since I've found it's hard for active dogs to keep weight on HK. For large dogs, yes, that equals a lot of glop lol X is 21 lbs and I feed about 1-1.25 cups of mix plus about 1/2-1 c. of ground meat (beef/bone/organ blend) per day. Patsy Pup is 8 months...

Re: Left side paralyzed?

This happened to my roommate's dog. It moved subtly and slowly at first but then quickly took almost all the mobility on his left side. He died before they were able to conclude the exact cause but the leading theory was brain tumor. I pray for a better outcome for your boy.

Re: Looking for someone who wants me...

FYI, the dog in the picture is Mr. Jiggs and he's probably got a bit of cattle dog in him. I know him IRL.
