Canadian Pet Insurance

Trupanion? Ok thanks. I'll definitely look into it. Finn's getting older so I have been thinking of finding something to help us just incase he *god forbid* needs something major done.

Thanks for the advice.

Canadian Pet Insurance

Does anybody have any health insurance for their dog? Does canada offer any good companies? If any canadians on the board have pet insurance, can you tell me how happy you are with yours? Have you had to use it for extreme cases? Cancer treatment or major surgery? How expensive is it? Is it worth ge...

Welcome. She's a beauty. APBTs are actually VERY suited for the things u had mentioned u were looking for. What you've discovered in her is not an anomaly. They are truly athletic, versatile, smart and very, very eager to please their humans. They are pretty much an all around jack of all trades dog...

a short and simple intro

Welcome. What part of ohio? I believe the statewide law has been changed...or is in the process of being changed...I don't know. But a lot of places in ohio have strict laws against owning bully breeds. Make sure, if u do manage to work a dog into the picture, that you know exactly what the law says...

Saying hello and asking for advice

I feel like it should also be mentioned that while resource guarding is likely, and also very manageable with the proper instruction, you have a pit bull. Yes they are maligned in the media as vicious man biters!!! Baby killers!!!! They aren't. They are born and bred to LOVE their people. But they a...

Re: OFA Ranking List

Wow, I'm actually surprised that GSDs were so low. Every shepherd I've ever met had bad bad BAD hips. But then again, the chances of me ever having met a shepherd from a breeder who actually even knows what OFA is are pretty slim. Sad but true. They are all advertised as "police dog lines"...

Re: Finn needs a Dental...?

The infection is clearing up. I canceled his appointment for surgery tomorrow because I found out that this vet tells EVERYone that they need a dental surgery, and since Finn doesn't act like its bothering him, and he's eating just fine, chewing bones like always, I decided to get a second opinion f...

Re: Finn needs a Dental...?

I live about 5 hours north of Edmonton Alberta. And I'm almost willing to bet that there's no dental veterinarian here. When they mentioned sending him to a different clinic they said because they didn't have the equipment there. Ugh. I wish I lived in the city. Ill definitely ask for the blood work...

Finn needs a Dental...?

So, I took Finn into the vet yesterday for his yearly vaccine and I asked the vet about his nasty breath. Its awful. Seriously. And his teeth are white and he chews on bones regularly. So I wondered if maybe he had a cut from a bone that got infected. So I had the vet look in his mouth and what he n...

Re: Mushrooms?

Are mushrooms bad for dogs?!?!

Or are these yard shrooms of the poisonous variety?

I give finn mushrooms all the time when I'm cuttin up veggies and such. He loves them. Green peppers too.
