Portsmouth NH/Portland ME area??

I'm hoping for a contact in the Portsmouth NH/Portland ME area-- I've been "managing" a number of health issues and behavior issues with my dog Ruckus (6 y/o) for his whole life, and am hoping to find a trusted expert in the area to help-- his behavioral issues have been easily managed by ...

update

Got home from work last night, and he seemed absolutely fine--He was chasing a fly around the house, had eaten dinner and pooped normally (solid, even!) , and didn't seem in the least bit uncomfortable or abnormal. So, crisis averted, and lesson learned. Now for his REAL bday present... he's getting...

it was supposed to be a birthday treat, he turned 1 on Saturday! But we'll have to find something else to give him as a special treat-- and it sure won't be french onion dip either! :) (kidding, obviously-- he NEVER eats people food!!!)

yeah, that was the first time he ever had it, and will never again. he was oddly possessive over it too, which he's never been like that before either-- I can literally pull food out of his mouth and he doesn't care, but the rawhide he wouldn't even let you near him. Hopefully the "lesson"...

so, last night was a bad night....

Yeah... so we've gone nearly a year with no major pet-ownership mishaps, then two last night... We gave Ruckus a piece of rawhide to chew, and were watching him like a hawk then entire time until my boyfriend and I went out to smoke a cigarette. Our friend was still in the living room with the dog, ...

Abscsess?

My previous dog was playing and got another dog's tooth snagged on his neck... I didn't even know he had been bitten, but the next morning it had turned into nearly a tennis ball sized lump! Apparently, it got infected and abscessed-- it had to be drained, and he needed antibiotics. Did he get bitte...

X a million-- Go to the vet!

My first dog, years ago, started acting like that-- he was stumbling around, and kinda walked up to me, looked up, and his feet slid out from under him... Then he started twitching a bit and red eyes rolling back in his head... Drove 90 MPH to the Evet and he was definitely poisoned...they had to pu...

Zukes

I use the Zukes mini naturals, I think they are called, and really like them. they are about the size of a pencil eraser, and can also be cut in half if you have a knife!

Good idea! He did get the kong back, we took it away for a couple of weeks, and saw no difference, so we gave it back. The canned food is a really good idea...keeps him busy!

Ok, good to know. I'm assuming that his nylabone is ok... I felt so bad when we took away his kong (to see if it was a rubber allergy), because the only toys that can withstand his chewing are nylabones and kongs!! Would there be a possbility that he could be allergic to the nylabone as well? Has an...

Just remember also that food trials for allergies need to be at least 6-8weeks before you'll know the results. When you say "food trials", is there something specific I should be doing, like feeding him differently? I mixed his old and new food for the first few days, now its just the new...

Thanks!

Thanks guys... I had read a little bit about mange, and guess I thought that the skin would look different. I was planning on going to the vet, I didn't know how urgent that would be, but I guess I will call and make an appointment today. He already uses stainless steel water and food bowls... and i...

new food, no improvements? (long, sorry!)

Hello everyone-- I was hoping I could get some advice-- I have been scouring the forums for several weeks now, and trying different things, and I am just about to call the vet but was wondering if anyone had some insight?... First off, my puppy is 9.5 month old intact male. Pitbull/Mastiff mix. Sinc...
