Twice a day Dallas gets Blue Buffalo LB Puppy in his crate and Genevieve gets the same, plus some salmon oil to help her shoddy coat. The rest of the dogs get Diamond Natural Chicken & Rice once a day: Billy in the bedroom because he's a slow eater, Delilah in a bedroom or crate because she's fo...

Branson, MO dogs needing foster/forever homes

Here are most of my dogs that need foster or forever homes. Roger: 1 y/o male American bulldog/pit bull mix. Neutered and UTD on vaccinations. Weighs about 100 lbs. VERY energetic and playful. Good with dogs, cats, and kids. http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq282/southerncomfort1125/P13174553.jpg ...

She'll be back to her normal self in no time! I've spayed dozens of dogs and have yet to have any spay-related problems...

Re: Found a new training treat

Thanks! I'll look into it for myself, but in my training class I have to use/endorse treats sold at Petco... otherwise I'm not helping my employer make any money, which doesn't help me :)

Re: What do you feed your dog?

I used to feed Natural Balance duck & potato, but it's too expensive to feed to 12 dogs. I'm now feeding Diamond Natural chicken & rice... I can get a 40# bag for $35 at my local feed store.

As much as I would like to incorporate raw/BARF, it's just not practical for me.

Re: Found a new training treat

OOOPS! I posted that before I was done!

I was going to say that I would like to use a soft natural treat, but they're just so darn expensive. Maybe I can get the NB rep to hook me up with some Training Tips.

Re: Found a new training treat

We have the Little Stars at my Petco... Guess I'll have to try them. A sales rep gave me a bunch of pumpkin & blueberry Fruitables and my heathens love them... my sister and I even ate one and decided that they wouldn't be half bad with a little vanilla frosting :mmm: In my training class we nor...

Re: Who's Had Hives?

Atticus broke out in hives last night after our final bathroom trip. I think maybe it's a grass allergy because the maintenace guys came and mowed this afternoon so it was freshly cut when we went out. Poor boy was covered in hives from head to tail. Going to start wiping him down and dosing him wit...

Yeah, that lady told you a bunch of B.S. Pit bulls aren't supposed to have heads like that.

Allergic Reaction to Charcoal?

One of my regular dogs, an APBT named Roxie, came in the other day with a nasty rash on her underside. Her owner said that the day before her head became swollen and she was covered in little bumps. When he and his girlfriend gave Rox some Benadryl, the swelling subsided and the bumps went away, but...

Re: Will the hair grow back?

Atticus has bad callouses on his elbows and back legs from sleeping on concrete for the first 2 years of his life. He even had some ingrown hairs that I had to pull out. I rub the callouses with pad cream every so often but don't expect the hair to grow back unfortunately. They're huge and unsightly...

Re: Thoughts from Rescue people?

They were born and condemned because of the mistakes of man. You have done all that you can to counteract that, but in the end there are too few people can understand and handle these dogs properly. It truly sucks to be an island of reason in a sea of ignorance.

Re: UGH. Happy tail, aka, bloody tail

The tip of Atticus's tail was constantly bloody for about the first month from whacking it so hard on stuff. Then he "grew out of it" all of a sudden. How long has Sox been doing this?

Re: Music soothes the savage beast?

Maybe pick some nice soothing music that you don't mind listening to and playing it while you and the dogs sleep or while you do some other calming activity (like give them a massage maybe)? Then after awhile they will associate the music with a calm state of mind and will automatically settle down ...
