Re: Flexi Leads...whats soo bad about em?

IMO the one and only problem with them: Stupid people. Most flexi users don't know how to responsibly use one or just don't care about being considerate of other people. I've been using a flexi lead (tape version) with my very strong, block of an APBT so that she can swim farther when we're at the b...

Re: Thinkin' bout switchin' from Evo to Orijen

I fed Regional Red last month and Xen really liked it. She ate enthusiastically, but less and didn't lose or gain a significant amount of weight. I switched to TOTW this month, but I plan to switch back after this bag is finished. A 15 lb bag of RR was $60, incl tax, but Xen's also an only child so ...

Re: Reminder about Flexy leashes

This is kind of like issuing a reminder about hammers. Both are tools, both can be mishandled by idiots. If you don't feel confident using one, don't, but it's always been strange to me that people are more reluctant to hold the handler responsible than the tool used.

Re: How do i stop abby from licking people??

To Xen, all the world is a popsicle. She licks all of the time. I'm okay with it usually, but when it gets annoying I just tell her to quit it and that works most of the time. With new people though...I just figure there are worse habits for her to have.

Re: Victoria Australia Councils to crack down on pit bulls

The fact that they are utilizing hotlines worries me most. That means neighbors, random strangers, people who are biased against you and/or your dog can call and report your dog resulting in a visit to your house.

That's downright scary.

Re: Looking for opinions

I think it helps to not consider one dog 'perfect' over the other. It is up to you to determine how much food your dog eats. Feed them each a certain amount, and feed them separately always. Taking control over how much she eats and how quickly can save her life; bloat can happen quickly and kill yo...

Re: Timid and lacking in trust....

another thing that the first behaviorist felt very strongly about when we worked with her was environmental enrichment, partly via work-to-eat toys and partly via mini obstacle courses and working with him to go over little jumps, underneath chairs, over pieces of wood and so forth. she thought it ...

Re: Feeding Raw

For those who are vegetarian/vegan, how do you get over the 'oh my god, body parts :yucky: ' hump? Xen isn't fed raw right now, but once we move I hope to switch her back over to it. Both my boyfriend and I are vegetarian, and I used to live in a vegan house (and thankfully none of my room mates ha...

Re: Let's Talk Vomit

I agree with the empty-stomach assertion. Xen also does this. No food, sometimes grass, just bile. Like clockwork, if she's gone maybe 10 hours without food. She'll usually vomit twice, and I'll give her a handful of kibble (if it's super early in the morning) or her regular meal.
