Re: Ruby's unable to potty, help please?

Our vet prescribed PPA (the stuff to help with incontinence), 2 weeks supply. Sometimes it seems like it's helping, but then other times it seems like it isn't doing anything.

Re: Stomach of Steel

Forgot to mention about the poop eating thing. Yes, Ruby does do it some times. Mostly I'll catch her sticking her head in the cats' litter boxes, pulling poop out of there, sometimes she'll pick it up off of a rug after one of the cats has been bad and pooped on a rug. Ruby gets her teeth brushed a...

Re: Stomach of Steel

My brother's ACD gobbled up a Ghirardelli chocolate, wrapper and all. He swallowed it whole. I think I found the wrapper in his poop the other day, too. My mother's Pomeranian has, what I like to call, a cast iron stomach. In her lifetime she's eaten several pounds of chocolate, bagels, and empty bi...

Re: TTouch? TTouch wrap?

You can use an old fashioned Ace bandage, (not the kind that are self sticking together, but the kind with the 2 metal clasps/hooks) and wrap it around the dog. That's what I do. Fold the bandage in half. Take the bandage at the halfway/middle point and start with that point in the front/middle of t...

Re: Ruby's unable to potty, help please?

Well, Ruby saw the specialist on Friday. The ultrasound didn't show any ectopic ureters, but that doesn't mean that it's 100% ruled out. The next step is to have the specialist and surgeon do a scope to verify that there are no ectopic ureters. If there aren't any, then the surgeon will fix her inve...

Re: Ruby's unable to potty, help please?

Other than about a week around Christmas, Ruby has been on medication since. On Saturday she started on a different medication. She still has the bladder infection, and she leaks. She gets to go see an internal specialist, Dr. Matt Vaughn, at Seattle Veterinary Specialists. Ruby is going to have an ...

Re: Water therapy recommendations for Seattle, WA?

There's the Animal Wellness Center in Bellevue. http://www.holistic-pet-care.com/ I've called them before about my Border Collie with hip dysplasia. If I remember correctly, I believe they said the initial consultation was $98. It wouldn't hurt to call. It's really easy to get to, lots of free parki...

Misskiwi67 wrote:How old is Ruby? Is she spayed yet?

We thought her approximate date of birth was 9/18/09, but her spay certificate says that her date of birth is 9/11/09.
Yes, she is spayed. She was probably around 8 or 9 weeks old when she was spayed.

Re: Ruby's unable to potty, help please?

Update on her bladder infection! After 2 weeks on the antibiotic I took her back into the vets. They took a sample of her urine, and said that it still seemed off color and smelled. The tech also said that a contributing factor might be her conformation. Her skin kind of folds around her vulva. They...

Re: Problems with my brother's Blue Heeler

My mom now thinks that part of it is that he'd only been here 2 weeks, and then I got Ruby. So laying part of the blame on Ruby.

Re: Problems with my brother's Blue Heeler

I'm still pondering an 80-pound ACD. I have to ask - are you sure it's a Cattle Dog? Yes, he is just quite overweight. Our guess is his previous family didn't walk him enough and fed him tid bits. Given half the chance he'll eat the cat food, the puppy food, and Queenie's food before touching his o...

Re: Problems with my brother's Blue Heeler

Thanks, I'd never really heard about the 2 week thing before. I did my best to not show any fear during prior occasions. I just didn't want him bothering my dog, Rocko. Rocko is an 11 year old Border Collie with hip dysplasia. I didn't want to hit Spencer, because I know you shouldn't ever hit your ...

Re: Problems with my brother's Blue Heeler

I know he's not a "pit bull" but I was hoping I'd get a few suggestions. Nobody has ever experienced a dog turning bite aggressive with them after attempting to correct/discipline a dog that's showing unwanted dominant behavior?!

Problems with my brother's Blue Heeler

My brother has a 6 year old, 80 pound, neutered male Australian Cattle Dog, named Spencer, that we adopted about a month ago. When we saw him at the Humane Society in Vancouver, WA we introduced him to our resident dogs. He submitted to my more dominant Border Collie, Merlin, and got along with my o...
