Re: Josh is getting dog aggressive

I never thought of the baby gates. Thanks! We will get some of those. The house is a weird shape, so only the kitchen could be gated off. We can try the bedroom too though. We will try separate feeding by baby gates, but I'll feed Myan and Willow together. Willow I know won't eat alone. And Myan and...

Re: Josh is getting dog aggressive

To be honest it doesn't really seem like you even want to make an attempt to do anything anyone here is suggesting :dunno: It could also be why people are saying things about how long you have been here, etc. because all the management things that people normally suggest are also being suggested he...

Re: Josh is getting dog aggressive

We free feed. We don't fill the bowls the instant they are empty. But we don't lift the bowls up if they don't finish immediately. I know many people are against it, but it works for us. Willow is the main hold out on it. Locking her away with her bowl, no other dogs around, she paces, doesn't eat, ...

Re: Josh is getting dog aggressive

Can't crate the chihuahua. 3 vet visits of him nearly ripping his nails out, rubbing his paws bloodied and raw from digging, and knocking out a tooth from chewing on the bars. Chihuahuas *sigh* We tried several styles of crates/cages. Tried to lock him in a room, he tore up the carpet. So we locked ...

Re: Air humping?

My chihuahua will get all horny sniffing the females (they are all fixed) and he goes like he is going to hump them (both are 55lbs plus) and he ends up just standing next to them, humping air. They look at him like he's a moron and walk away. He walks after them, still humping. Its pretty damn funny.

Re: Josh is getting dog aggressive

She was here for 2 hours and we talked far more, I didn't include everything. She said Taco's couch privileged is causing confusion, I use the word resentment. And my BF and I have established ourselves as the entire pack leader. Josh is working his way up within the pack. They have been eating toge...

Re: Josh is getting dog aggressive

A few nights ago, Alexia, my daughter, was laying on the couch with Taco on her lap. Josh was laying on the floor in front of them. Alexia and I played around with a pillow and in the melee, Josh jumped up and grabbed Taco by the head. Alexia brought her leg up between them and Josh went to bite aga...

Re: Josh is getting dog aggressive

Yes I KNEW this could happen. But I am seeking advice all the same. We always crate him, since he was a puppy, when we can't watch him. To be sure that should it rear its head, it does so under our watch. He's never left alone, loose in the house. I do know of a great behaviorist/trainer, who owns a...

Josh is getting dog aggressive

Josh, our pit mix of a year has been changing his behavior pattern. He always plays hard, but never aggressively. Lately though he is starting fights with 2 of the dogs. The oldest dog, Myan. He and her got into it a few times. It stared with the stare. Then he's been attacking my boyfriend's chihua...

Re: Raised feeders vs. bowl on the ground?

I've used raised feeders for years. No problems.

To help slow down a dog eating, keep it from chowing down, they have types of bowls as well as a special ball most bowls can use, that help keep the dog eating at a better pace.

Re: Handicapped Pit Bull Forced to Wear Muzzle

I completely agree, muzzling a "normal" dog or a healthy one is ridiculous. Its just even more ridiculous to muzzle a handicapped dog.

Also agree with not removing the leg. It causes no pain and if they removed it, she would have to learn how to walk and run all over again

Re: Anyone ever try non-aesthetic dental?

I found this video of a cleaning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiNd71cKLkI Every dog is different of course, but this one seemed very calm. Held securely but not forcibly in the man's legs. Another video online, the owner was right there a few feet away. I plan to ask if I can stay for the cleaning.

Re: Anyone ever try non-aesthetic dental?

The one here charges $99. That includes plaque and tartar removal, sonic cleaning, tooth brushing, gum massage, bacterial mouth spray and free breath drops and dog tooth brush/paste to take home. Extractions cost more. But not sure of the price, I'd assume the cost is dependent on the time and effor...

Re: Spring Pole Resources?

Ok.....stupid questions time  Concrete: What kind do I use? How do I mix it? What do I mix it in? I do have to mix it right? I don't just pour the mix and water into the hole, I gotta mix it first? Also, do any of you get comments about having a springpole and a pit bull? Like "Are you fi...
