Re: Anyone ever try non-aesthetic dental?

I found this video of a cleaning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiNd71cKLkI Every dog is different of course, but this one seemed very calm. Held securely but not forcibly in the man's legs. Another video online, the owner was right there a few feet away. I plan to ask if I can stay for the cleaning.

Re: Anyone ever try non-aesthetic dental?

The one here charges $99. That includes plaque and tartar removal, sonic cleaning, tooth brushing, gum massage, bacterial mouth spray and free breath drops and dog tooth brush/paste to take home. Extractions cost more. But not sure of the price, I'd assume the cost is dependent on the time and effor...

Anyone ever try non-aesthetic dental?

There is a local place that does this. Anyone try it before?

Re: Licking - can neosporin hurt him?

Because I have the bad habit of biting my nails, I accidentally tasted neosporin once. It didn't taste like anything, but it made my tongue a little numb for a short time. Wasn't very strong, the numbness I mean, but it was a bit of a surprise to me. lol Now I know how it stops the pain. And yeah, I...

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

Glad I am not the only one with the theory. I'm not even saying dogs WITH cropped ears/tail become more aggressive, just, that's how other dogs perceive them. And a few bad experiences, where the cropped dog has no idea why another dog is being a jerk, could then make that dog aggressive. It can be ...

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

My point isn't your dogs or my dogs. I don't take my dogs out to play with other dogs. With the 3 of them, they have all the companionship and pack they need. When I take my daughter to the park, I see pit bulls and other breeds that tend to be dog aggressive in the dog park. I am talking about thos...

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

I'm gonna throw my theory on the table. Its a theory that started back when I worked at the humane society. I'd watch the dogs outside, interacting and playing. And I noticed, we had more trouble with the dogs who had cropped ears and docked tails then dogs who didn't. Not saying they were more aggr...

Re: Purina Puppy Chow....all the good stuff in it?

All of our dogs are well taken care of. They get their regular vet care, penty of exercise and lots of love and treats. The only thing we cant afford right now is the high quality food. IMO that doesnt make me a bad mommy. 3 of my 4 are rescues and i also have a foster dog. We do what we can to giv...

Re: Purina Puppy Chow....all the good stuff in it?

I did recommend several foods for large breed puppy with G&C. I know the higher quality food is a bit more expensive, but think of it this way... Low quality corn-based food goes in and out of dogs fast. They poop out a majority of it. So they often have to eat more....than if they were on a hig...

Re: Purina Puppy Chow....all the good stuff in it?

I seriously doubt they will give the puppy what it fully really needs. At least a little in the food would do more good than having some corn based diet. I told him...feeding his dog that food is like his wife putting out a dinner plate for him with 90% of the plate covered in corn, and a quarter si...

Purina Puppy Chow....all the good stuff in it?

A member of a local board just posted they got a GSD. Its adorable and beautiful. This was my post... Though with her being a GSD, I would suggest you get her on a food with glucosamine and chondroitin. It will save you a mess of vet bills, lengthen her lifespan, and save her from whole lot of pain ...

Re: Cyst/Growth On Ear

Thankfully, its been that size for weeks. I check it daily. She's not due to the vet for another 3 months, so I was trying to hold off, money wise. I didn't think it was anything serious, but wanted some other opinions on that one. So long as it continues not to grow or ooze, I'll wait for her vacci...

Cyst/Growth On Ear

Willow has had this growth on her ear for a few months. It hasn't grown anymore. Doesn't really secrete anything. The area around it sometimes gets some dry skin. But it doesn't bother her at all. I have no idea how old she is. When I got her 3 years ago, the vet estimated 1-5 years. She was living ...
