Re: Looking for heartgard

Look into the price matching thing. Sugar's vet, which happens to be a VCA, does price matching.

Look at Costco's prices. I know they are about 5 bucks cheaper than DFS on Frontline Plus, so they might be cheaper on the heartguard too.

Re: Pet Insurance, VPI Ect.

Sugar came with 45 days of free insurance through ShelterCare. I've gone back in to look at their normal pricing, and wasn't happy with how much they want per month, so I will just let the policy run out at her 45 day mark.

Re: Gross and Intimate girl dog question (with pictures!)

I'd have to agree that it's just a normal Vaj

Sugar's gets a little pink on the outside tip as well. She won't be spayed until tomorrow.

Hunger Strike?

Sugar's been on a hunger strike for the last couple of days and I'm not sure why. This morning I can even hear her belly rumbling, although it could be gas. She's been at the vet a couple of times this last week while we got her cleared for spay, so she's had blood and urine tests done. I've got her...

Sugar gets to do it, but since my car is a 2 door, she doesn't get a window of her own. I refuse to let her in the front seat. So, she sticks her head between my head rest and the side of the car, and somehow manages to get a good amount of it out the window. Luckily, this way, she can't go anywhere...

Just switched Sugar from the Science Diet Puppy that the shelter had been feeding her over to Kirkland Lamb & Rice. We've had a couple bouts of the runs, but she seems to be stabilizing now.

Still not quite sure why they had her on puppy food.

She was just dehydrated! Yay!!

We're going to wait a week, then test all of her levels again just to make sure.

She's always got water available, so it doesn't make sense why she was dehydrated, but who cares. She's more than likely fine!!

I managed to get a sample. My hand got peed all over in the process, but that's alright.

I dropped it off around 4, so hopefully I'll hear back in the morning what the results were.

Thanks man! I'm glad that I did too. If she had gone under anaethesia and does have something wrong with her kidneys, it most likely would've killed her as her body wouldn't have been able to filter the anaethestic from her blood.

Pre-Spay Bloodwork - BAH!

Sugar was due to go in for her spay tomorrow. Due to her having had heartworm, they really pushed to have pre-op bloodwork done, which I said fine to. I would've done it even if she hadn't had heartworm. Coming from a medical family, I know what can go wrong. The results came back today, and her spa...

Ok to administer Heartworm/Flea Treatment?

I adopted Sugar last Tuesday and they didn't tell me if and when they administer any heartworm and flea treatment. The vet gave me some today to start giving to her, and I forgot to ask if it's alright to start it right away. With her prior history of heartworm, I don't want to risk her not getting ...

Miss Piggy Pink Ears

Hello all! I'm Erin, and just adopted my first Pit yesterday. Her name is currently Sugar, but it might get changed eventually once she settles in. She'd been at the shelter since August, had heartworm, and then contracted kennel cough. She's not spayed yet, but will be this week as soon as I get th...
