Re: re

This really is the best advice anyone could give, and Diane Jessup should know. Some dogs do require a prong collar, but it sounds like this one would be best off w/o it. No. Dangling food is considered "luring", and not something you want to do in positive training. TO be honest, explaini...

Re: Ugh this had to happen in Agility Class....

Believe me I'm reading all the posts and am finding insights and I thank you all for taking the time to give me some behaviors to think about. I've had dogs for a long time, but I will say that Pits show their "friendliness" and their "aggressiveness" somewhat differently than ot...

Re: Ugh this had to happen in Agility Class....

Man Kadillacgrrl, maybe I really needed to hear someone who knows dogs tell me that it just plain "sucks" when things like this happen... I will always be aware of where this particular GR is while we're in class...if Bella is ever allowed off leash in practice again. I'll definitely be al...

Ugh this had to happen in Agility Class....

Ok, hoping for some advice here. Not a newbie with pits, I have four here at any given moment, who all co-habitate extremely well. They eat in the same room, they play together nicely, we never have aggressive behaviors here, they usually listen to me and respect me. They are a 4 year old male, 1 ye...

Hooray! Thanks so much for that feedback and please stay in touch. If you ever see red, please take the toy away for a free replacement. The key for us is your dog's safety. The tough part for a small company like our is getting people to try us. As time permits please check out the GoughNuts Puzzl...

Yup I bought a Jolly Ball for mine, as my friends boxer seems to really love hers and they last for her quite a while...not in my house..in the first 10 mins. Bella had the handle chewed completely off and it was only a matter of days before the rest of the ball was torn up so badly I had to throw i...

Well the stepping on the back feet thing was one of those training tips from long ago...I tried it on the dogs I had at the time..but guess I wasn't very coordinated...never could actually see the feet with the dog climbing all over me. Not a very good idea if you ask me. I'd rather try the turning,...

I have both. The Gentle Leader all of my dogs hate..and that being said I do not use it. The EZ Walk harness on the other hand is a God send. It needs to be adjusted so that it fits snugly, otherwise you lose the benefit of it. But my son's dog, who probably weighs in at 80+ pounds was the worse pul...

Using knee to chest is what I was taught when I first began dog training back in the mid 80's..first of all, it never really worked, secondly it's a very good way to break the dogs ribs. There was also a train of thought about stepping on the dogs rear feet, probably somewhere in the same time perio...

Positive Reinforcement Training

Positive Reinforcement Training is the absolute best thing you can do for yourselves and your dogs. Ms. Jessup gives great advice on teaching dogs to leash walk, and to focus, and all of us would be doing our dogs a huge favor by following what she has to say. I've been doing this training with my y...

Black Goughnut

I just ordered one of these for my four pits and I'm hoping that it will be a fun toy for them. LOL..last night my puppies brother and owner stopped by for a visit..she brought Ranger a birthday present for his first birthday..some of those red toughy toys sold at Walmart...they survived the Rangema...

Bully Lover from Maine

Hello All, My name is Denise and I am owned by 3 purebred Pit Bulls and one Pit Bull mix. Ranger is a year old, Bella is 4, Dante is 4 (actually my sons dog, but lives here) and Lady is the mixed breed and is 14 years old. I've always been an animal lover and have had dogs and horses most of my adul...
