Re: growling at kids

I would describe him as confident and dominant (or wanna-be dominant). He will also 'test the waters' around people that will let him get away with bad behavior (jumping on them for example and just being bratty) but will listen/behave perfectly around people that won't tolerate that kind of behavio...

Re: growling at kids

hi - thanks again. I checked my account settings and it says "not allowed to receive/send pms" and it does not give me an option to enable I guess an admin has to do it. I'll read up on those links once I get off work - thanks. Also my email is maciek.sobocinski@gmail.com if there is anyon...

Re: growling at kids

Hi - thanks for the info. he does not like dogs staring him down or showing any 'dominating' behavior and he reacted to the kid staring at him pretty much how he usually would if a dog he didn't know did that to him (other than he did it for a second then just ignored before I could even react with ...

growling at kids

So I brought my dog to a friend's family event this past weekend - I did ask beforehand if it would be ok since he is iffy with bigger dogs and I did not want him jumping up on any kids (from what I thought the only kid that was going to be there was a 1 year old baby which he's been around before a...

Re: Does anyone use the Walky Dog

ive been using a walky dog on a harness plus leash on flat collar daily for a looong....Had to replace the rope on the walky dog once (it rubs on the plastic and tears after a while). I would definitely recommend using a leash on the collar as well unless you have a 100% perfectly behaving dog. you ...

Re: cooling jackets?

would any of the ones mentioned work with/as a harness? I use a cd pits with a walky dog every day on our bike rides and the florida weather kills him in the summer. I would not mind dishing out $100 for that rpcm cool vest if it works good - anyone know if I could clip a dog into a walky dog with t...

Re: Need Soft Crate Advise

I bought an elitefield crate for class....thought it would be ok just for a few minutes of separation. My dog was fine with for the 2-3 classes he could see me from the crate...but once I took it to a class where we had to go in a separate room he tore a hole in the see through net (had a sheet over...

Re: good dog beds

I have a kuranda cot version which is the not chew proof (its ok for me) thats in an empty closet next to my bed and put some blankets over it. it's a lot easier to wash and i like the look I'd recommend it. my dog seems to like it he'll randomly go and sleep/relax in it during the day...usually at ...

dog ate a bunch of fabric...

So he threw up some foam a bit maybe 2 days ago I didn't think much of it at the time....then I wake up today and find some more throw up under a desk behind a chair. I'm sitting outside today and he went to do his business but can't seem to get anything out forever. I see someting probably like 12 ...

Re: Running away.....

I'd get a long leash (you can get a really basic fabric one for pretty cheap...) and letting it drag or attaching to yourself so he never even has the chance to do that. I always do that when we go hiking my dogs recall is far from perfect he comes back but tbqh I'm more scared of him getting his bu...

Re: Nipping when excited

i completely ignore/walk away. My dog was horrible about this when he was 1-1.5...to be honest I don't know if he just grew out of it or finally got my message but nowadays I hardly ever get teeth on me and the second things get too rilled up I ignore and get a sit and "wtf I'm sorry *head turn...

Re: Walking Harnesses for the High Maintenance...

I'm on my 2nd cd pits (dog chewed the first one). The quality is great and I love them. I use mine daily for bike rides without a problem. The shipping from canada to US makes it a bit more expensive than the missy v ones. One thing I would mention though is that both times I ordered I got a harness...

Re: hard jolly ball?

I have the egge that's lasted forever and gets played with daily. I do also own a biiig (bigger than the biggest egge) hard plastic jolly ball from amazon.com (i think it's different than the one from the site linked above) the one that has a plug so you can fill it up with sand/water/etc - with tha...
