Re: Concerns of a new parent

since no one answered this part I will. She most likely has a double dew claw. It isn't common in lager dogs but certainly isn't something that needs to be removed unless it bothers her. I groom plenty of dogs with double dew claws and they are just the same as regular dews just 2 nails. Nothing to ...

Re: So a good scare for the day...

I think she realizes it is her own fault, like we all do when we make a silly mistake that could be potentially dangerous (or is.) Amie gave good advice. You can't go wrong with more training. Always always always work on your recall. Just when I think my dogs have a solid recall, I work on it some ...

Re: Variations of the gentle leader harness

No need to sew. I haven't tried this for a harness but my partner uses those seat belt fleece tubes for his currier bag. I am sure that would work for a dog harness too if you are looking for some extra padding.

Re: Goughnuts!

My dudes just received their goughnuts Christmas presents in the mail a few days ago. Gauge loves throwing his around and running after it and Lucy loves stealing it and hiding it in her chair. They haven't done much chewing on them yet because they are still addicted to their nylabones. I am glad t...

Re: Best Nail Clippers?

I have a dremel, and Liberty is okay (but not great) with that. But her nails are still way too long - she came to me with crazy long nails - vets trimmed over an inch when she was spayed, and they're still just so long! I'd like to chop them a good bit more and use the dremel to even things out an...

Re: Aaarg... he's FOUR... why now??

You really are just going to have to make the trash inaccessible to him at night. It doesn't matter the age, dogs can learn new things at any age especially when they are bored.

Re: Purina Puppy Chow....all the good stuff in it?

I would educate them and give some suggestions on what are good brands of food and supplements etc that they should be feeding their puppy instead of just pointing out the negative. Most people really just don't know that purina isn't great food.

Re: Signs of a food allergy?

Twotanks... lay it on the line... what exactly is your real question? I would love to help, but I agree, something here is getting lost in translation, and maybe if you rephrase I can be a little more helpful and specific. My dog has a flea allergy. He has been on antibiotics and pred because he go...

Re: Signs of a food allergy?

I would like to step aside from the food allergy thing because I have been to the vet and the vet thinks it is a flea allergy. I don't think someone (even if they are a vet) is qualified to give me a definite answer over the internet without actually looking at my dog. I still haven't gotten any ans...

Re: Signs of a food allergy?

Did you read my post at all? Yup, sure did... but I didn't read the most recent update until after I'd posted my usual schpeal... I've been here for forever, and its unusual for me to miss an allergy-related thread. Sorry 'bout that. Yep, you responded politely the first time I posted this. I hones...

Re: Signs of a food allergy?

My experience on this forum has been really negative and judgmental. I feel like all the regulars just attack someone with a low post count just to "show off" their knowledge and that is why I reacted that way. I have a low tolerance for things like that. I am already at my breaking point ...

Re: Petsmart Basic Puppy Training - Opinions?

I say judge the trainer individually, just like you would a dog. Just because a trainer works at petsmart doesn't mean they are a bad trainer, to each his own. this. Petsmart and Petco's trainers aren't necessarily all of the same value. It all depends on the trainer you get. I would see about look...

Re: Signs of a food allergy?

Did you read my post at all? I said I brought him to the vet and I gave him meds. The meds lasted a month and a half and he was in the clear until 2 weeks after they were done and now he is itchy again. I can do everything under the sun to get rid of the fleas but if he gets one or 2 bites and scrat...

Re: Signs of a food allergy?

So I forgot to update yall on Gauge's itchyness. He went to the vet and she determined that he was itchy because he is severely allergic to fleas and had a skin infection. He was put on an antibiotic and a steroid to get rid of it. It worked well and he was itch free for 2 weeks after his meds were ...
