Re: dog coats

It's nice to have a coat that covers their chest/midsection, but what about their legs? I can wrap my dog up in layers of coats, but he's got metal plates in both knees. No matter how warm normal dog jackets are, I still can't walk him in the winter. We get a block or two from the house and he's lim...

If he can have sweep potato, Natural Balance makes a grain free sweet potato and fish milk bone as well.

I didn't see Taste of the wild listed aka TOTW. What are ya'lls thoughts?

I can't say enough good things about TOTW! I feed my dogs that, and it has helped them immensely. I also feed it to my foster dogs :)

Re: Resource guarding

I vote sticky as well :) I have an interesting situation. The new guy that I have taken in has an unique situation. He has mild guarding issues, and some form of separation anxiety. I'm kind of at a loss. As soon as I leave the room, he starts whining. If I'm not back within 5-10 seconds, the whinin...

Re: Need help deciding on CCL surgery: what would you do?

What you're doing is great so far :) From my experience with Spud, he either blocked the pain out, or wasn't in that much pain at first. It was more off and on sore it seemed. The pain got worse over time (we had to wait almost three months to get the surgery), but he would still want to run and pla...

Re: Need help deciding on CCL surgery: what would you do?

Spud is 2 1/2, and had his first TPLO surgery last septmeber. He just had his second TPLO on his other leg two weeks ago. His first knee is completely back to 100%, it doesn't bother him except when it's really cold out. He's already thinking he's all better from surgery #2, almost always weight bea...

Re: How to introduce two dogs

Putting a dog in a crate and having another one come up to it may not be the best way. Dog #1 is trapped with no where to go, that's scary. Bring them to a neutral territory, such as a park or empty parking lot or something. Have them both on leashes. There are a couple different ways to do this. No...

Finnega and Kenzo need help! Minnesota

Here is Kenzo: http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o282/Laiinkyree/d6349f25.jpg And here is Finnegan: http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o282/Laiinkyree/0ba2a102.jpg These two guys have been sitting in a local impound for nearly a month now. The impound that they're in is pretty lenient as far as ani...

Re: Oh god my foster dog started eating poop help :(

I know that poop eating is common, but I also know that it's a very hard habit to break. And after a 12 hour work day, coming home to that was stressful :( I'm also worried that it just suddenly started happening, and the intensity which she stalks all the other dogs is...weird. I had never heard of...

Oh god my foster dog started eating poop help :(

I've had my foster dog Mo for a little over a month now. Last week was the first time that I noticed this happening. I am not sure if she has just been super sneaky about it, or if the behavior just began. I go outside with my dogs every time they go out to do their business, so they're always super...

Meet Mo! Minnesota - Twin Cities

Everyone meet Mo! My new foster dog. She was found this summer tied to a light pole near a vet's office. She was malnourished and had skin issues due to allergies. She was treated and adopted out, only to be returned the day after I got Butters because having a dog and children was "too much wo...

Re: Meet Butters! Minnesota - Twin Cities

Thank you very much :) I'm still frustrated and trying to figure how if there's a miracle that can get Bella with Butters, but I don't see it happening :( I do private fostering as well as foster for Unchained. Private meaning I will take in animals for people who cannot keep them in their current l...

Re: Meet Butters! Minnesota - Twin Cities

Yes, the little brindle girl in the first couple pictures! Well, it looks like Bella won't be getting adopted. I was watching her for someone who couldn't keep her where they were living. Turns out the lied to me about pretty much everything. Bella is NOT fixed, and is NOT up to date on shots. No wo...

Re: Meet Butters! Minnesota - Twin Cities

Butters has a home pending! The family came to my house to meet him, and it went great. We're hopefully doing a home check this weekend and bringing Butters (and possibly Bella!) with. If all goes well he may stay there when we're done with the home check. Bella too! If they decide to adopt her too,...
