Parvo update "Shadows success"

Well it's been awhile and I feel it is now safe to post this update on Shadow. As you may have read he had parvo at 1yr because his previous owners never vaccinated him. After alot of attention and a couple vet visits he is doing great. Shadows previous owners gave him his name and never taught it t...

Re: Vaccine results in lathargic and vomiting/concerned.

Hi everybody! Shadow has come through parvo and we have changed his name to Ambrose which is Greek for "Immortal". We thought it was perfect for him, we usually call him "Bro" for short. Bro isn't eating his full amout of food yet but doing so much better than before. The Vet adv...

Re: Vaccine results in lathargic and vomiting/concerned.

Hi. I am happy to report that Shadow is eating, and taking his pills with Science Diet which was given to us by a vet. He is very energetic and a much happier dog, even playing in little spurts with the pack. Two days ago we got a lactated ringer system from the vet and began it that night. I think ...

Re: Vaccine results in lathargic and vomiting/concerned.

Though he is not eating he is acting better. getting up and walking when he wants. Food and water are still an issue, but we are taking him to a recommended vet on Tuesday if he is not eating by then. He has more energy and a better attitude now, but still food and water make him queezy. We will at ...

Re: Vaccine results in lathargic and vomiting/concerned.

Happy 4th to all. Thanks for the continued support and tips. Shadow is still not feeling good but we are seeing signs of recovery. He started to wag his tail yesterday while we were sitting with him and petting him and then last night we let him out for a minute for a potty break and afterwards he t...

Re: Vaccine results in lathargic and vomiting/concerned.

Misskiwi, thank you for the info, I'll keep that in mind. We gave him about a teaspoon of rice and it was only after he held fluids for about 7 hours. It was good that he was interested but we are not rushing it. Its been about 12 hrs now since he has threw up. and no blood in vomit since yesterday....

Re: Vaccine results in lathargic and vomiting/concerned.

Actually the Parvo test came back this morning and it is positive, its Parvo. Still we think we made it past the hard part. He is acting a little better still and was able to keep down a small amount of rice this afternoon. We are continueing he antibiotics, of course, and he has only threw up a cou...

Re: Vaccine results in lathargic and vomiting/concerned.

Well, we got him to the vet this morning and they gave him a shot of antibiotics and anti nausea and sent us home with pills for vomiting and antibiotics. He actually seems to be feeling better. He was able to get up and walk out of the Vets (something he hadn't done for over 24 hours, so thats a bi...

Re: Vaccine results in lathargic and vomiting/concerned.

I have spoken to a few vets, (since he doesn't have his own yet), and they are thinking he got Parvo since he had not been vaccinated for the 1st yr of his life. This makes me very angry, these people ignore this poor dog and all seemed fine, I take the proper steps to ensure he is healthy, safe and...

Vaccine results in lathargic and vomiting/concerned.

Hi everyone, I have a concern about our newest family member. Shadow is 1 yr old and moved in with us 1 week ago. He is a large very relaxed APBT. The previous owner never got him his shots. So I required they get the first set done before I accepted him. He came back from the clinic after receiving...

Re: Weight loss at one year???

She is not spayed. we do feed her twice a day now but about 2 cups per sitting. she wont finish it all must of the time so Im comfortable with the fact that she is just at an awkward stage. I am hoping she fills in a bit more, just a lil more stocky. People around here are used to seeing the bully p...
