Re: What does everyone feed their dogs?

Max and Annie get Taste of the Wild prairie formula. Shera gets Natural Balance duck and potato. Shera has inflammatory bowel disease and I have to be really careful about what she eats or we both pay the consequences.

Re: Question about advice from a trainer

Thank you all very much. It went totally against my instincts to consider letting it go too far. The dogs have been really calm today but every time Annie went over to Shera I would give Max extra attention and praise. Today he has been completely distracted by belly rubs.

Re: Question about advice from a trainer

The dogs aren't interacting in class. This is a home issue I asked the trainer about. I only take Annie to the class so the trainer doesn't know Max or Shera.

I had little issues with other things that happened in the class but this was a red flag.

Question about advice from a trainer

We have Annie in classes at Petsmart. I'm not really that impressed but it is a nice outing for her. Last week I asked about some problems we've had with Max (Rhodesian) and Annie. The bottom line is that they get along fine unless Annie pays attention to Shera (older, alpha female). When that happe...

Re: Dogs with TBD's

My dog Max was diagnosed with Ehrlichiosis. He was on doxicyclene for a month. He had no symptoms. I took him to the vet because he had some strange growths on his lips and that was how it was discovered. The vet ran every test in the book to try to diagnose the growths and we were all surprised whe...

Re: Signs of a food allergy?

A trip to the vet might be in order. One of our labs had severe allergies and he would end up with skin infections from scratching. Annie was chewing on her paws when we got her from the shelter. I switched her food and the chewing stopped. Paw chewing and scratching are common symptoms of food alle...

Re: Excessive licking - play or aggression?

Thank you so much. Yes, Annie's entire body wiggles and it is does mostly occur when I get home from work and they have been separated for awhile. I was really worried after speaking with one trainer who thought that the only way that Max and Annie would work out their pecking order was to let them ...

Re: How many collars does your dog have?

So far Annie has one but that is about to change. It seems that light pink floral is not terribly practical for hole digging mud whompers. :))

Excessive licking - play or aggression?

We have a 7 year old female Malinois (Shera) who is definitely the alpha. We also have a nearly 5 year male Rhodesian (Max) who always defers to the older female. A month ago we brought home a 2 to 3 year old female pit named Annie. We've taken it slow and things are going pretty well. Annie has a h...

Hello! :)

Hi there! My name is Melinda. Last month I brought home an adorable female pit from the shelter. Her name is Annie and they told me that she is a 3 year old APBT. She has a beautiful gray coat with white paws and chest, and olive green eyes. She had a litter at some point close to the time that anim...
