Re: Adult Male Pit Bull for adoption/fostering-check the ear

Well, she did love him, but he was too much for her to handle. He knows his basic obedience, but he needs someone to be firm with him and she just wasn't firm enough or confortable enough in her handling skills. He's very strong and she's not strong enough. So, no go this time.

Re: Treat em' right rescue in houston

I was just informing the local Houston forum posters of a rescue that is constantly asking for free help (vols) and donations; that also has a history of not manning up to their responsibilities. Like rescuing and boarding dogs they can not afford, or neglecting medical bills resulting in maulings ...

Re: Adult Male Pit Bull for adoption/fostering-check the ear

Adoption pending. I have a good home lined up for Boston and we're doing the meet n greet today. The whole process is taken care of and everything is go as long as she falls in love upon meeting him. Say a little prayer for Boston today. I'm sure he'll put on his usual, goofy charm and seal the deal.

Re: 2 Pit Bull mix PUPPIES for adoption

Dallas has been adopted! However, Bubbles was returned. *sigh* We are going today to meet someone interested in her so keeping fingers crossed he falls in love.

Re: 2 Pit Bull mix PUPPIES for adoption

Austin has been adopted! As they've grown Austin maintained his Pit Bullish features, but now we're really starting to doubt Dallas having any Pit Bull in him. Must have had different dads. Bubbles was also adopted, now we just have Dallas left from the trio.

Re: Opinions on potential adopter needed

That was a red flag for me too. I still haven't heard back from him so I can add him to the DNA file.

Re: Opinions on potential adopter needed

If you brought home a dog you knew nothing about then sure, I could see being cautious, but having had a dog in foster care with some history, none of which involved fence jumping or digging out, I don't see the need to jump to conclusions that the dog will automatically escape. Being outside with t...

Re: Opinions on potential adopter needed

I always encourage people to buy crates before they bring home one of my fosters. They shouldn't be given free roam of a new home right away. And chained Pit Bulls is a huge thing in Houston and from the sounds of his neighborhood, it's probably a very common thing, especially for "protection&q...

Re: Opinions on potential adopter needed

Because it seems like he's anticipating something happening before he even gets the dog. He said he already went and bought a trolley line, yet he claims his yard is completely fenced. He said he got it to prevent the dog escaping. Where would he get that idea when he doesn't even know the dog? And ...

Re: Opinions on potential adopter needed

I guess I should check into that. Houston has 5 major shelters and that's not including the shelters in the surrounding counties. Looks like I got a job ahead of me.

Re: Opinions on potential adopter needed

I do chip and I keep the chips in my name. I want to be notified if my fosters ever ended up lost or in a shelter. Plus it makes us one more contact to reach in case the owners can't be reached. You know, now that I think about it. What if one of my fosters were turned into a shelter by the adopter?...

Re: Opinions on potential adopter needed

Thanks everyone, I know I can always count on good advice here. I still haven't heard back from him since Saturday. I like it when they just fall off on their own instead of me having to tell them to go away. Not answering my question within the same day or two speaks volumes.

Opinions on potential adopter needed

When in doubt I know I can get good opinions from PBF. A guy replied to a Craigs List ad I posted with my Pit Bull fosters. The application was good for the most part, he happily answered some questions I had. However, there are a couple of things that concern me and I know I should just go with my ...
