Re: ACL repair. To knife or not.
I work in a vet clinic and remove staples from post-op orto surgery dogs frequently, and it's really not that bad unless a staple gets weirdly embedded. The tech or doctor who takes them out will use a special skin-staple removing device that bends them open without hurting the incision site. Glad y...

Re: Diesel will NOT play with toys!
It took Nugget six months from after I found him (at one year old +/-) before he even showed slight interest in toys. It wasn't until he was holding a toy and I pulled on it, and the tug instinct kicked in that I could see a lightbulb go off above his head. I quickly added some rules to the game (he...

Re: Can I be welcomed back? Please take time to read.
:dunno: Other members are posting about using vibration collars... And Tahs is saying she lets her dogs off leash in safe, contained areas and is still improving her training techniques... Overall seems like a person who is trying to do right and just wants back into the fold. These issues alone don...

Could be the entrance point of a foxtail? If it gets bigger or you notice swelling elsewhere on that leg I would def have a vet check it out!

My 55 pound Pit gets two cups a day. My 5 pound Chihuahua gets a heaping eighth of a cup per day.

Re: Distemper
http://www.caninedistemper.org/ All your basic info can be found on that site. Like Parvo, Distemper can't be treated directly, you can only support the pup while his body fights the virus (for example through use of antibiotics and the giving of fluids). Unfortunately many pups just up and die sud...

Re: Capo had his first close up dog meeting today...
I usually handle those approaches by telling the person approaching that my dog is in training and isn't allowed to meet other dogs, while they are still a ways away. I used to say "My dog isn't friendly" but that felt like bad press (and isn't even remotely true). Even if it means me look...

Re: Food & Water - When & How much?
I restrict water intake for Nugget, especially in the evening, or he'll drink non-stop and have accidents. He gets +/- 3 cups of kibble a day (partly in a bowl, partly as training treats) and a stuffed kong or raw bone. He is an adult and weighs 54 pounds (I weigh him weekly to be sure I'm not under...

MY ROOMATE. It drives me (and him) up the wall, albeit in different ways! lol She will feed him everything and anything within reach when he comes into the room, and she has this voice (that is like a drill to me, at this point :crybaby: ) that is SO high and loud, the combination of which amps Nugg...
