Re: Need some extra tips on how to make territorial issue be

How about contact paper on the windows? My first dog actually broke out a window going after a neighbor's dog (thankfully, the window breaking either scared the dog out of our yard, or made my dog think twice; and she stayed inside), and we crated her for a while, while I retrained her to stay away...

Re: Need some extra tips on how to make territorial issue be

I think you are doing all the right things. Especially think the treating with lots of people going by is good.... I do think you should try and see if she would do ok on her own in a room ( with lots of fun stuff and other things put away that would not be good to get into) for when people come ov...

Re: Starting A Puppy on Raw

Very true, you can start out with whole ground ( that include meat, bone and organ) or if you can't find that, add bone meal to ground turkey, beef, chicken etc, with some liver or whatever other organs you can find. Perhaps even supplement with primal, natures variety, etc. And then gradually work ...

Re: picky eater?

Is she acting ok? Want to make sure she's not sick first :) Maybe try getting some ground chicken, and start adding in a bit of whatever it is you're trying to feed her. I know some dogs are picky about organs when you start feeding those. As the previous posted said, try feeding it frozen as well.....

Re: Need some extra tips on how to make territorial issue be

It sounds like in general she probably has some degree of anxiety about strangers and when they come to her house it puts her over threshold since it is a confined space and it's her home. Kind of like how in my neighborhood lots of the people on the street are a little scary to me, but not terribl...

Need some extra tips on how to make territorial issue better

I finally decided to break down and post, seeing if maybe others with experience as well, could help us more. Addie for the most part is a good dog. We do agility, go to trials, out for walks etc. However, a behavior that I have been consistently having trouble with is her reacting very strongly to ...

Re: Starting A Puppy on Raw

Check out dogster, lots of good help on their raw forum :) generally 2-3% of what will be adult weight is fed. I usually do 80% meat, 10% bone 5% organ with added fruits and veggies ( optional, in small amounts). here's some good links I like: http://puppybutt.weebly.com/uploads/7/6/9/2/7692088/begi...

Re: Another sit means sit trainer abusing dogs

They also want fast results because of their price. We had a sit means sit franchise here for a while.. over $1000 for the program. I learned more about it, being a vet tech I had a lot of clients ask about it and I wanted to be informed. While I am open minded, I certainly do not agree with how the...

Re: looking for a 'pit bull proof' pet/baby gate

I think that's the same one I have, but if you run into it or it's off at all it won't close all the way, I think she could still go over though, all of my dogs can if they really want to and the younger female will jump on it just right and can open it. You can put film over the windows to block h...

Re: looking for a 'pit bull proof' pet/baby gate

Its starting to look like that might be the case! I've been working with a local trainer on door manners, and she suggested using a baby gate, rather than a crate to gate her to the back part of the house so she can't see the front windows to help reduce her house guarding. She has been in a crate a...

looking for a 'pit bull proof' pet/baby gate

Ok guys, looking for some good suggestions on the best baby gate / pet gate that you know of. I have tried a regular cheap baby gate ( x pattern ) and Addie climbed over it. I tried a pressure mounted 'top paw' brand extra tall gate ( with vertical bars), but it does not stay really secure on the wa...

Re: Bloody nails?

Addie has that at the base of her nails. I dont think its blood, it seems to be pigment or coloration. They use to be white, too.

Addie just got her first agility titles this weekend! ( in CPE) Level 1 Fun title & Level 1 standard title ( Shes now Addie CL1-F CL1-R ). We just need to get a colors and a jackpot run to complete our level 1 title. She did Sssoooooo fantastic this past weekend! Q'd in every run and first place...
