Re: Feeding Raw

Amazingly, I found my best prices by emailing the local meat markets. When I buy organ meat (not every time) I average about $1.09/lb. When I'm just stocking up on meat/bone I average about 80 cents per pound. Our butcher likes us and would prefer to sell us top dollar miscellaneous cuts at $1.25/po...

Re: NZymes Yeast Kit

I just ordered the BacPakPlus and the Ox-E drops as well (and got the free treat offer!). Andre's on anti-biotics for a skin infection on his face and head. I don't know that I'll see a drastic difference since his allergies are so mild compared to Cherry's. I was just going to get him some pro-biot...

Re: Breedfreak pet costs calculator

MissKiwi, sorry for mucking up your thread. Maybe the mods can split this in case anyone wants to continue the debate about mutts?

(Not that I think there's much to debate)

Re: Breedfreak pet costs calculator

Which registry recognizes labradoodles as a breed? The registry of mixed breeds? lol roflmao I found the ALCA (Australian Labradoodle Club of America) and the ALAA (Australian Labradoodle Association of America) which registers labradoodles. I'm going to start a club called "Rescued Pit Bull T...

Re: Breedfreak pet costs calculator

In my opinion anyone breeding mixed-breed/mutts shouldn't be breeding. There are plenty of mixed breed dogs in the shelter looking for homes. A responsible breeder breeds to better their breed, not to make money, not to create "new breeds", not to create puppies with cute "breed name...

Re: Breedfreak pet costs calculator

Thats funny because I have heard of people breeding Labradoodles together and making more not the other way around. To me, all dogs (Even with a pedigree) are mutts; Because they had to cross other breeds to get what you have today. However, the term mutt is used for two dogs with unknown linage. I...

Re: Breedfreak pet costs calculator

To me, labradoodle is a mutt. Just like a maltipoo or a cockapoo. There's nothing wrong with mutts just don't try selling them as "designer breeds".

Re: Breedfreak pet costs calculator

Personally I wouldn't buy any book that includes "pit bull terrier" and "labradoodle" in their list of breeds. Oh I'm certainly not interested in purchasing the book or recommending it... its just entertainment in my eyes. The calculator is good, and I wish more people would thi...

Re: BARF/Raw Feeders Please Reply

Check for yahoo lists in your area that pertain to raw feeding. That's how I found most of the sources I've tried. Also watch craigslist for "meat wanted" ads. If you respond to a couple of those, you can make contacts to raw-feeding owners. I'm sure if your prices are fair and you treat a...

I'm not an expert, but we didn't experience any swelling with our lymphoma boy other than his nodes. I hope she's feeling better soon.

Re: Kibble change (Fromm?)

Adrianne, we've been feeding Earthborn Holistic Adult Vantage. It's about $40 for a 28 pound bag from doggiefood.com. It's the only kibble that Andre's had normal poop on. We're on our third bag. It's not high-protein and came highly recommended by a Newfie breeder I'm friends with. (Giant breeds ar...
