Re: Who trains for someone else? Who employs other trainers

At PetSmart we get paid per dog. There are different levels based on how long you've been with the company as well as roll over rate, etc. As a level three trainer I get 25% of the amount the dog paid for the class for the entirety of the 6 week course.

Re: Please Help . . Is this just arthritis??

Update! I made an appointment at a different Banfield . . utterly prepared to potentially put him down if need be. I left my birthday festivities early and spent all night with him. I don't think either of us slept at all last night. This morning, I took him outside and let him use the restroom. I p...

And when he does walk . . it tends to go around in a circle. I just couldn't catch it on video.

Please Help . . Is this just arthritis??

Today, I got woken up by my mom saying that she thought that Cody's arthritis was acting up and I needed to get him some medication. So I made a call to the vet, who said it wasn't necessary to see him and would fill his prescription and would be ready for pick up. However, when I came downstairs, i...

Re: Is it worth it?

I went ahead and discussed it with my vet - who has a genuine love for my dog, so I know she wouldn't steer me wrong. She ended up giving him a portion of the dose instead of the whole dose so it wouldn't take a toll on his body. That way, she could say he had the vaccines in his body, but would kee...

Is it worth it?

As many of you know, Cody suffers from Renal failure. We had been managing it for the past couple years just fine, however it recently got worse to the point where it's affecting his appetite and he must go in for fluid therapy in order to make him feel better. It came to mind for me to bring him to...

Re: Extreme Behavior Change after Spay

Update : I called to check up on the situation as it has been about two weeks since they came. The dog was returned to the breeder. Hopefully the breeder will handle the situation better. However, I am not sure that will be the case . . since the dog is a "lab mix". Hoping for the best for...

Re: Extreme Behavior Change after Spay

Which is what I warned them about :/ but their behaviorist had "tons" of dogs on a farm and everything is from "personal experience" that worked with the animals they had. I'm genuinely scared for the dog, but I'm not sure what else I can do. I also mentioned I couldn't find any ...

Re: Extreme Behavior Change after Spay

The behaviorist and vet both recommended to "assert their dominance" by staring her down for 30 + minutes a day or at least until she refused to make eye contact (which is what we teach as a focusing command at PetSmart - kind of a retreat if the dog is scared). They also yell at her when ...

Re: Extreme Behavior Change after Spay

Update : I talked to the owners on Friday about the potential options for the dog. I told them that they cannot do two different types of training methods at once on the dog (i.e positive reinforcement with me, while using aversive techniques that the vet/behaviorist recommended). They seemed slight...
