Re: PetSmart PetsHotel

A lot of our clients at my animal hospital use our local PetsHotel and really love it. I can't say I've heard anything bad about them. That being said many PetsMarts have a number of anti-pit bull policies so I don't know if too many people here will have patronized them. Have you considered a pet s...

Re: Capone is Sick: I'm in need of advice

My first thought when you say that he has a "rusty" smell to him is uremia. I would at some point do a little bloodwork on him if you can to make sure everything is ok with his kidneys. Could also explain him not feeling well. Sometimes your vet can do a Chem/CBC & Heartworm combo that...

Re: Chicagolanders Lyme Disease

Thanks for the head's up. I'm surprised Chicagoland doesn't have a lot of Lymes. Up here, just over the border in southern WI, we have endless cases of Lymes. (I've been on the treatment twice, like just about every other scientist I know who works out in the field.) We have ticks coming out of our...

Chicagolanders Lyme Disease

We typically didn't see much Lyme disease in the Chicagoland are and are still under "low risk" according to the CDC but I wanted to let you know that I've been hearing of multiple cases of dogs with Lyme disease in the greater/northern Chicagoland area. This week a girl in my nursing clas...

Scram is doing fantastic! I made an error before - She actually had two incisions to the stomach and two to the small intestine. Yesterday she had her first "full" bowl movement and it was perfect! No vomiting, no diarrhea!!! She's definitely hungry though. We couldn't feed her too much no...

Update: Our recovery is going very well! No bleeding or sepsis issues. No vomiting or diarrhea. The best thing is that we've managed her pain well. She's been eating yesterday and today with no vomiting!!! She did pass a little normal stool this morning! I can't believe how well she's doing! A few m...

Thank you so very much for all the well wishes! We are home now and Scram is here and fast asleep. Now that I'm home I can type a little bit more about the last 18hours. Around 3am this morning she began vomiting repeatedly. She had several vomiting episodes until 5am. She seemed otherwise fine - go...

So far so good. She's in surgery now and handling the anesthesia well. They got a big piece of tennis ball out of her stomach and are stitching it up. Can't express how great it is to work at this animal hospital... My two great friends and talented sugeons are working on her now. They've just found...

Please say a prayer for Scram

My baby girl started vomiting this morning excessively. Xrays show she has something blocking her intestines. She's going to have exploratory surgery this afternoon. I am beyond distrot, please keep us in your prayers today. I will keep you updated.
