Re: Boss is hoarse...

Voice changes can also be symptoms of tumors, thyroid disease, and laryngeal paralysis. If his voice isn't recovered in a couple days, a vet visit is definitely in order. My Harry died suddenly of an acute attack of laryngeal paralysis. It's scary and can hit suddenly. I would get him checked out p...

Re: Boss is hoarse...

He does have allergies, and we have been out of benadryl for a few days. He seems to be less-raspy today. Since we installed our hallway gate he is able to be out more, therefore doesn't cry as much... so At this point I do think that was the culprit.

Re: Boss is hoarse...

It's most likely from barking. It'll be hard to change/manage if you aren't there to witness it. I'm not sure what you mean. I know he barks, haha. We crate and rotate so I witness it a lot, haha. I just don't know of anything I can do to try to help. When I googled it I read to give them warm tea ...

Boss is hoarse...

Boss's voice is hoarse... it's pathetic. Otherwise, he is perfectly normal. His voice is the only thing I'm noticing that is "wrong"... so I don't feel like a vet visit is warranted yet, but I'm not sure what to do to help. I got a humidifier for his room, thinking maybe the heater and spa...

Re: Allergy issues-asking for a friend

I did forget to mention originally that as of a few days ago she was going to start her on fish oil supplements. They are new to any thing like this so it helps to show lots of other people doing the same... that its normal, haha. Their first dog was eating dog chow before Penny came along if that t...

Re: Allergy issues-asking for a friend

Has she considered it may be allergies to chemicals? I have one dog that has food allergies and eats nutro grain free venison and potato, but also is allergic to chemicals. I can not use frbreeze or even wash my own clothes in perfumed laundry soap. I get laundry soap that has no perfume or dyes an...

Allergy issues-asking for a friend

I went through the health section, and did a search but there are SO MANY posts on allergy issues that I didn't think I'd be able to find anything relating to this, so forgive me if I just managed to miss them, and links to previous posts you guys know of are always helpful. My friend, Rachel adopte...

Re: would a thundershirt help?

Nope, they aren't like that... THAT would be a huge upgrade. Degan will get up to switch from my side to boyfriend's side and that is annoying... but Boss is more like a "YARRRLEAHHHHAHHHHGHHGGHHHHYELLYELLYELLLBARKBARKBARKYAAAARRRREEEEAHHHHHH" over and over again until he gets out. And I k...

Re: would a thundershirt help?

Oh I don't think I said that we do have to crate and rotate boss with Degan and Harlow so we have to deal with this a lot more than just at night... I have been wanting to try an x pen or doorway gate for a while, it just hasn't been in our budget to purchase either... especially knowing it may not ...

Re: would a thundershirt help?

Thanks for the advice guys. I will definitely try a bandage or shirt first. Anxiety is the only thing I can think of because he is THE CALMEST DOG EVER at any other time, but when in his crate he is like a completely different dog. We have tried everything I can think of... covering, uncovering, hav...

would a thundershirt help?

Okay so we have dealt with Boss's crate issues since he first came to us, but are finally getting to our wit's end with his protesting... he goes in his crate fine, but lately has been throwing absolute fits anytime he is in there (over night is our big issue here...) For those of you who have used ...

Re: Cumberland Co. NC

The examiner article is the first one I read--linked from a friend on facebook, but it seemed "sketchy", and didn't really give any details so I googled it. I found more articles that were more specific--intentionally clarifying I presume. I do hope someone involved or more familiar with t...

Re: nylabone...

We swear by Galileo bones as well. The ones we have now are juuuuust about due to be trashed, but we got them LAST September, when boss and ollie came to live with us! They are the ONLY thing that we are able to keep around. Black kongs are even destroyed within an hour...Occasionally if I happen to...
