Re: Boss is hoarse...

Voice changes can also be symptoms of tumors, thyroid disease, and laryngeal paralysis. If his voice isn't recovered in a couple days, a vet visit is definitely in order. My Harry died suddenly of an acute attack of laryngeal paralysis. It's scary and can hit suddenly. I would get him checked out p...

Re: Boss is hoarse...

He does have allergies, and we have been out of benadryl for a few days. He seems to be less-raspy today. Since we installed our hallway gate he is able to be out more, therefore doesn't cry as much... so At this point I do think that was the culprit.

Re: Boss is hoarse...

It's most likely from barking. It'll be hard to change/manage if you aren't there to witness it. I'm not sure what you mean. I know he barks, haha. We crate and rotate so I witness it a lot, haha. I just don't know of anything I can do to try to help. When I googled it I read to give them warm tea ...

Boss is hoarse...

Boss's voice is hoarse... it's pathetic. Otherwise, he is perfectly normal. His voice is the only thing I'm noticing that is "wrong"... so I don't feel like a vet visit is warranted yet, but I'm not sure what to do to help. I got a humidifier for his room, thinking maybe the heater and spa...

Re: Allergy issues-asking for a friend

I did forget to mention originally that as of a few days ago she was going to start her on fish oil supplements. They are new to any thing like this so it helps to show lots of other people doing the same... that its normal, haha. Their first dog was eating dog chow before Penny came along if that t...

Re: Allergy issues-asking for a friend

Has she considered it may be allergies to chemicals? I have one dog that has food allergies and eats nutro grain free venison and potato, but also is allergic to chemicals. I can not use frbreeze or even wash my own clothes in perfumed laundry soap. I get laundry soap that has no perfume or dyes an...

Allergy issues-asking for a friend

I went through the health section, and did a search but there are SO MANY posts on allergy issues that I didn't think I'd be able to find anything relating to this, so forgive me if I just managed to miss them, and links to previous posts you guys know of are always helpful. My friend, Rachel adopte...

We swear by Galileo bones as well. The ones we have now are juuuuust about due to be trashed, but we got them LAST September, when boss and ollie came to live with us! They are the ONLY thing that we are able to keep around. Black kongs are even destroyed within an hour...Occasionally if I happen to...

Re: hi everyone!

I realize this comment may get me flamed but i am alittle hestitant about a rescue dog. I would love to safe a dog but I am scared that their histories will creep up on them. In fact, you should have less concern about a rescue dog than one from a breeder...chances are, if they had a bad history th...

Re: New pit owner from Wisconsin!

Oh , right on! I get the career reference ;) Where in Wisconsin are you located? One of my good friends grew up in Powers Lake...wherever that is! We have a "foster" boy right now named Boss... (you can guess where that came from), and before we got Harlow we were going to name her Cam but...

What a good looking duo!
What city are you in? I have spent many summers in the St. Louis suburbs so I know the area well!

Re: puffy eye?

Well it actually is almost back down to normal today, so I am just going to keep an eye on it. I assume it's probably just his allergies--they've been bad lately! Thanks for the advice guys!
