Re: Dog Walking - Is it enough exercise?

I have tried to play tug inside with him, however he is not interested in tug. I can get about 30 seconds out of him before he just goes and lays somewhere else. Hence the nickname Mr. Miserable. In the winter we play a lot of fetch, it gets cold here too but the lack of animals actually makes it ea...

Dog Walking - Is it enough exercise?

Hi Everyone - Question on dog exercise. We've had Charlie for about 1.5 years now, he just turned 3 last month. We don't have a yard but He gets 2 two mile walks each day and we play catch for about an hour a day 4x a week. Usually that keeps him satisfied, he is probably medium energy. However, he ...

He wasn't an English Bulldog mix.

Oh man, that's what I get for skimming. I read it as boston terriers. :))

Re: Amount and type of exercise

We change it up based on the time of year. With the warm weather, each days there is a 2 mile walk in the morning and a second at night, as well as about an hour total of fetch. In the winter it drops to 3-4 shorter walks, less than 30 minutes. Of course, no puppies here, but I'd say if they are not...

Re: Raised feeders vs. bowl on the ground?

We do raised food but only because Charlie used to eat so fast he'd puke it back up. The raised bowl helps slow him down. It takes him 3x longer to eat. The water is still on the ground, easy access for all.

Maybe she's cold. Have you offered her a blanket? It could be like that scene from dumb and dumber.

Re: I didn't find poop ANYWHERE

I don't think this was mentioned but I kind of skimmed. I know that some dogs will eat their poo because their bodies did not break everything down, so it is still desirable. Luckily for us, Char only eats horse poo. :bully:

Re: bathing you dog?

Does a dog swimming count? Because we have a pretty fool proof process.

Step 1: Deposit a tennis ball in the pool

Done.

Our dog loves a good squirrel chase. However with the heat wave, he has downgraded to squirrel staring.

Re: Breeders

I just want to mention that there are a lot of young pups at the shelters, around the 6-9 month range. And second, I wouldn't get another puppy just to play with your pit mix. The little guy is there to be your buddy. If it's an energy thing you are worried about, there are plenty of alternatives th...
