Re: raw feeding - what to expect, what to look for

Internet ate my last post - sorry! Thank you all for the great information. All is completely understandable and I don't feel confused at all. Last night's feeding of just muscle was because I was being a freak, worried that her upset tummy was because she'd gobbled down too large a piece of bone. I...

Re: holistic care - ears

Oh and I have a question for you, what do you all waash/bath with since you not fond of soap (and antibacterial gel) ??? I took her statement: Antibacterial handwash and soap are terrible! to mean antibacterial handwash and antibacterial soap are terrible. Which I've been told by anyone with an adv...

Re: holistic care - ears

not pertaining to your dogs' ears I was listening to Dr. Mehmet Ox (on his t.v. show this afternoon) He had a short segment on home remedise that are tried and true. He said his wife and him use garlic and olive oil to treat their kids and their own ear infections(though you would be interested in ...

Re: raw feeding - what to expect, what to look for

I guess I'm just a little on edge because we've only had the dog (ZELDA!) a week, and it's been 5 years since we owned a dog. And my first time raw feeding. She had her first raw poop a couple hours ago. That seemed to make her feel better, and her spirits have been better. I decided to give her jus...

Re: raw feeding - what to expect, what to look for

What does 100% raw mean to you? i.e. What are you feeding? After 8 days with a new family, she might just be tired, you now? Also if she's been given wormer or vaccines in the past day or so, she could be feeling out of sorts. She's getting chicken thighs and some venison now and for the next few d...

raw feeding - what to expect, what to look for

Our rescue dog has been with us for 8 days. During this time I've been transitioning her from her previous kibble to raw. Yesterday was our first day 100% raw. For the past few hours she's been sleeping a lot and seems a little off, and it is making me paranoid. She's not in any obvious pain, puking...

Re: holistic care - ears

if we ever get a cold or sinus infection, an ear infection will often follow. Since it's almost certainly viral, I treat with garlic oil. OT a little but an ear infection is the middle ear, not the outer ear - I can't see how garlic oil would help since you could not reach the inner ear except thro...

Re: holistic care - ears

We're definitely going to keep a good relationship with our vet, and I'm not opposed to driving a bit to find a more holistic vet! We live near a big city (Charlotte, NC) so I don't think it will be hard. :) We just went 100% raw today after a week (got her last Monday) of transitioning her off the ...

Re: holistic care - ears

Is she prone to ear infections? If so then you need to find the cause, if it's an allergy or what. If she currently has an ear infection you need to have it diagnosed by a vet and treated. Ear infections can turn chronic and do permanent damage to the ear. She's not prone to them that we know, but ...

holistic care - ears

We just rescued a sweet little pit mix last week, and we're loving her up! Our family is pretty crunchy - organic/local food, herbal medicine, homeopathy, etc. One of our favorite things is garlic oil for treating and preventing ear infections. Works amazing! I know that the Allium genus is a no-no ...

Oops - meant to add:

For a size reference with Kylie, in one picture is my daughter, who is a short, tiny 27 pounder at 3 1/2 years old.

Welcome Home Kylie (several pics!)

I'm Carrie, and our family just adopted yesterday a sweet little girl, Kylie, from a local rescue group. We have three daughters (5, 3, 3) and a 10yo kittie named Lucas and live in NC, US. We made her a sign, see? http://photos.imageevent.com/richinva/carriescrafting/websize/IMG_2138.JPG She appears...
