Re: Thinking About Switching to Feeding Raw

I personally read the barf 101 thread start tofinish and read through a lot of the great sources they had linked or otherwise sourced. You can find a plethera of information just searching raw and/or barf then narrowing it down to what suits your dogs needs. (Then searching keywords of what ever els...

Re: Another one for the RAW experts!

We're Slippery Elm users, it's also great for external irritations, think rash, dry skin, bug bites. You just drop some in hot water and let it jell up and spread it on. I learned the hard way about organ meats. I found beef kidneys and liver on sale and bought some for each dog, didn't think about...

Re: Oils supplements

Yes 1000mg per 20 lbs. Obviously if it upsets your dogs stomach then don't give them that much. Khan is in the 50-55 lb range and I dose as I said. Neither fish oil nor the vitamin e has ever upset his stomach. He has been on it for years. and you would give time to adjust and then raise the dose. ...

Re: Oils supplements

The dosing amount for both is in the link I posted on the first page. Maybe I should have been more specific with my question... For dogs with special needs, give 1,000 mg (180 EPA and 120 DHA) per ten pounds of body weight daily. For healthy dogs the dose would be one capsule per 20 lbs of ...

Re: Oils supplements

Going to try to get my answer questioned off of this old thread before trying to make a new one. I have 1000mg salmon oil and 400icu vitamin e supplements for Apollo who is around 70lbs. Is one each a day too much? I am thinking of alternating the two every other day, but I wasn't sure if they had t...

I don't see the problem. If you were more local I'd tell you to walk her in my yard!

If he's not acting like he's in any pain and you have issues scraping up the funds I'd second benadryl and washing him with just water or something gentle or maybe an allergy formula. My man had to set a rule that if the dog isn't in pain and if he's eating and pooping normally I have to wait it out...

Re: Raw Poop Watching Trials

Thanks, I didn't think it was too out of the ordinary. I did expect the runs, I knew about the dry to hard spectrum, didn't realize I'd be getting different colors.

I will surely have more questions soon.

Raw Poop Watching Trials

Apollo and Jewels have started on chicken backs last night, it took Apollo FOREVER to eat at first. I thought he was going to try to lick the chicken up like it was an ice cream cone, but once he realized there were bones in it he love love LOVES crunching up the bones, and really looks more disgust...

Re: Nutritional value/safey of cheaper cuts of meat ?

There is no problem with pork and you don't have to worry about freezing it at all or for extended periods. The only thing you need to worry about is the salmon (believe it is pacific...I'll look today if I get a second) and wild caught game needs to be frozen. Like if you know a hunter that gives ...
