Re: Cooling bed/mat for dogs?

I haven't seen these in use so I can't vouch for how well they work but the price is really reasonable and you don't have to fill them with water. http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fusea ... e=whatsnew

Re: Flyball box-work video

Thanks, He would likely find Dock Diving pretty fun, I'm not counting him out of all activity, that's for sure. He's got a LOT of heart, it just needs to be redirected a little.

Re: Flyball box-work video

Yeah, he can swim, I take him to the beach a few times a week and he enjoys that. The orthopedist actually recommended weight pull for him. Muscle surrounding joints support them and can keep them in place. Weight pull is also a no-impact sport, it's the jarring from hard impacts that causes most of...

Re: Flyball box-work video

He started doing a few jumps at 10 months and started working on a well padded wallboard at 12 months. He didn't start working on a box until even later. As far as when the problems showed up, he always had an occasional funny gait that I never really paid much attention to, figured I just wasn't th...

Can you believe he was only 6 months old there? He's always been a whole lot of dog, even when he was a very small puppy.

Re: Flyball box-work video

He's got bad hips and a bad knee. He's less than 2 years old so it was a real shock when he went lame. I'm trying whatever I can to get him pain free and active again, but he'll likely never be able to do Flyball again. He was about a month away from his first tournament too, such a shame.

Re: Flyball box-work video

Looking much better Nichole! Before I had to stop training Angus for flyball he was getting a really nice turn.

The slow motion version of that turn and the training leading up to it are in this silly video.

Re: Snow's Hips have improved

My veterinary orthopedic specialist actually recommended that I get Angus (bad hips, iffy knee) into weight pull. It's the best sport for bad joints because it's about building muscle which supports the joints and is about slow methodical movement, and no-impact. I hope that Angus also improves like...

Re: Angus Lure Coursing

I wish I could find a group that Angus could do oval or sprint racing with, or competitive lure coursing. The only lure things he's done are the AKC CA Test in these videos which is a pass/fail thing and some just for fun coursing that he didn't really "get." He didn't understand why he sh...

Angus Lure Coursing

Here are two videos of Angus lure coursing last month. He absolutely loved it and had the speed to back up his drive! The first video is first thing in the morning, when he was fresh, the fog had just burnt off. The second video was several hours later after a trip to an empty dog park (I don't let ...

Re: Muzzle?

I'm looking for a leather muzzle that I can use for lure coursing. I have a wire basket muzzle that I've started getting Angus used to but I love the look of the leather ones. It's unlikely to happen but I want it to be sturdy enough to prevent bites if he's running with other dogs and re-directs at...

Re: Turned Out Front Feet

Thanks Sarah, you learn something new every day! I feel much less anxious about his feet now. And Chako you're absolutely right about my parent's dog. He's a heintz57 type mutt so his genetics are a complete unknown. He never had much exercise and has been allowed to stay very overweight, he needs t...

Turned Out Front Feet

Angus is a 13 month old SBT and has had "Easty Westy" feet for a while. It seems to be more obvious when he's sitting but can show when he's standing too. Sometimes it doesn't show at all and sometimes it looks horrible. He was just neutered a week and a half ago. Is there anything I can d...
