Re: ear hematoma...YAY!!

3 month CBC retest came back NORMAL!!! :) It had to be some kind of blood infection. He is so awesome and absolutely back to his normal smart mouth self! We even sat in the waiting room for 15 minutes with an old lady with a cat in a carrier, another lady holding a Pomeranian, a couple with a big Co...

Re: Anyone tried Apoquel? Molly's itchiness hopefully resolv

I know prednisone wasn't a long term solution for Thor. Relatively quickly my vet wanted to do a liver test to make sure it was functioning properly which in and of itself was enough for me to work hard to figure his good allergies out. She has also said we will try Apoquel for Chloe...once she gets...

Re: ear hematoma...YAY!!

Second ear drain check yesterday...There was new redness around his neuter incision Monday and both our vet and I were a little worried, but it turns out it is just irritation from the stitches which is normal! She checked his ear, asked the other vet to see what she thought, and decided to take the...

Re: ear hematoma...YAY!!

First of 3 weekly checkups for his ear drain...DONE! She said it looks good and that it didn't have any fluid which is good, and she checked his belly for bruising. There was a little bruise by his weenie, but she said just to watch it to make sure it doesn't get any bigger and that it was probably ...

Re: ear hematoma...YAY!!

He's much much better! The bruising is almost gone, but he freakin' hates the sock on his head! I have been having to keep him doped up because he keeps trying to get frisky! He is also LOVING that I have to make sure he eats with the Doxycycline! He's totally taking advantage and eating only wet fo...

Re: ear hematoma...YAY!!

There is a trash can laying just off the road in the top left of the corner of the pic...it blew away from her house. She stopped to get it on her way to work this morning and didn't put her Toyota Tundra in park and it ran it over and then went across the street into a vacant lot before she caught ...

Re: ear hematoma...YAY!!

Yes, definitely better today! The bruising didn't get worse so now we're going to get him healed up and some antibiotics in his system for a while. He goes back Wednesday to have the drain checked and she'll decide then if we recheck his blood then or wait the 3 weeks she said originally. He was try...

Re: ear hematoma...YAY!!

They actually knocked him out and then took the blood, he's my bad baby and we (my vet or Darell and I) didn't want to risk him doing something stupid. My vet is also my friend, her and her husband are the ones ChloƩ and I go to dog shows with. I'm sure if she thought this is where we'd end up, she ...

Re: ear hematoma...YAY!!

So, it appears that the ear hematoma was the least of our worries :( his blood work was way off and she thinks he either has some kind of blood infection (thought it was ehrlichia from a tick, but we did the test and it was negative) or he's got an auto immune disease. I don't remember what any of t...

Re: ear hematoma...YAY!!

Re: ear hematoma...YAY!!

She's gonna lance it and drain it and maybe a few sutures so it doesn't fill up again...I'll definitely get pics! I forgot to get one this morning before I left - I was up all night :( She said some dogs can take it with local anesthesia, but she doesn't want to break the trust/bond they have made i...

Re: Vaccination protocol

Ours are all (DHPPC & Bordetella) annual except for Rabies, after the first year Rabies is every three. I do have to booster Blu again on Friday for the DHPPC since there was no record of prior vaccinations for him when we adopted him.

Re: Color Dilution Alopecia

This sounds EXACTLY like what I go through with my ChloƩ! She's basically bald, except for peach fuzz, on her whole underneath and behind her ears. She has very thin and shorter hair on the backs of her thighs and on her face around her eyes and mouth. Her "normal" hair is also shorter and...
