Looking for some rescue resources in nj

Hello everyone! It's been quite some time since I've posted here. I have an estimated 2 year old rescued little pitty that I adopted when I lived in NC, and sadly recently I lost my beautiful special needs dalmatian, sienna, to renal failure at about 17 years old. I adopted sienna about 6 years ago ...

Puppy Teeth

Its been years since I've had a puppy, Shelby, my newest addition is almost 5 months old. I rescued her from a shelter by my home in NC...I am out of state for about a month and my vet is NC so before giving him a ring figured i'd post here. All her "puppy teeth" have fallen out(about a mo...

Re: Good age for the invisible fence/shock collar?

i have a solid wood fence and locks on my gate no children or animals are getting in here anytime soon So.....if no animals can get in, your puppy should not be able to get out. No need for the collar, right? did i not just make it clear that lily can clear an 8 foot fence? dont like shock collars?...

Re: Good age for the invisible fence/shock collar?

I'd really recommend against an electric fence, as (I believe) would many other members here. There are several reasons: 1) pit bulls have a high prey drive, and a high tolerance of pain. This means while they may normally respect the boundaries, if something they want to chase is outside the fence...

Good age for the invisible fence/shock collar?

Not that I'm even thinking about putting a collar on my youngest pit, Shelby, I was more or less curious what most people deem the appropriate age for a dog to be introduced to the invisible fence or a wireless training system. My eldest pits Lily and Baby have receivers for the invisible fence whic...

Re: Rash/Allergies on Lily

There are a ton of people with allergy prone dogs on the forum, mine has mild allergies to weeds and we use Benedryl (1mg/lb) when he gets rashes, which is thankfully not often. If you do a search or skip back through the pages you will find a ton of info. Thank you! I will do a search. I forgot I ...

Re: Royal Canin SO food?

My dalmatian has been on Royal Canin Urinary UC for over a year following an emergency surgery for 22 stones!!! I have to say, the diet absolutely does wonders and she hasn't had any recurring issues. At $60 for an 18 lb bag, its worth its weight in gold

Rash/Allergies on Lily

Hello! I have a 2 year old pit named Lily, last spring/summer a rash appeared on her neck and stomach that looks similar to blood blisters. When I took her to the vet they did a skin scrape and ruled out mange or any other common skin condition and she said she believed it was allergies. My vet put ...
