Re: Lower Protein Food ??

I think I'm going to go with the Natural Balance sweet potato and venison or sweet potato and bison (whatever they have in stock at the pet store I shop at). They both have 20% protein, I figure that's 12% less than the TOTW he is on so if will be any behavior change that's a big enough difference i...

Re: Lower Protein Food ??

@WackyJacki Thanks for sharing your experience. At first we were so embarrassed by Dexter's behavior and felt like he was a lunatic or there was something wrong with him. It helps so much to hear other people going through similar situations and having positive results. We've started the counter con...

Re: Lower Protein Food ??

Do you have a link to a thread or can you explain what his behaviors are that you're seeking to change via diet? I don't want to derail this thread if you don't want to and I have no expertise on the subject but I'm curious as I haven't really heard of this method before. I mean changing of diet he...

Re: Lower Protein Food ??

It won't necessarily change his behavior but she said there have been studies done where adolescent dogs with high protein diets showed the types of behaviors Dexter is showing. She also said there have been studies that showed that diet had no effect on behavior. We figured we'd switch up his food ...

Lower Protein Food ??

We met with the behaviorist last night to work out Dexter's issues. One of her suggestions as part of our overall plan is to reduce the protein levels in his food. Right now he is eating TOTW High Prairie and The Honest Kitchen - Keen. I hate to just give him some low end garbage but I can't seem to...

Re: Adoption Events

Interesting thread. The rescue that I've started to foster for doesn't do store front events, I'm not really sure why not. On the one hand I feel like it could help people see the dogs or just help to get the rescue's name out there. But on the other hand, it could be a waste of time/energy (from th...

Re: What do you feed your dog?

Oh, also I feed my cat Milo TOTW. I just switched him over after being on Iams for 4 years. While I was doing a gradual switch to the TOTW he would pick out all the TOTW pieces and leave the cheap stuff! And a picture of the Meow Man himself because well, he's cute! http://i147.photobucket.com/album...

Re: What do you feed your dog?

I feed TOTW Prairie. I tried switching it up and going to the Wetlands formula but Dexter didn't really seem to like it as much as the Prairie so I switched back. I'd like to go raw but it seems so overwhelming at first. Need to re-read the raw thread for motivation!

Charlotte - Tiny Little Girl in GA

Charlotte is the most affectionate, loving dog you will meet! She wiggles and wiggles and wags her tail non stop! Charlotte is a little munchkin 'pocket pit bull', barely weighing in at 40 pounds. She is about 1-2 years old and full grown. She is currently living in a foster home with a male dog and...

Re: New here and to the breed.

She is adorable! Stick around, you can learn a TON on this board. There are lots of helpful threads in the training and behavior section, I personally have a 6 month old puppy and have fallen back on these threads countless times already with him. Welcome!

Re: Local Pet Stores

Atlanta, GA pet stores that I shop at (there are tons more I have yet to stop at, these are the ones in my neighborhood) Inman Park Pet Works 914A Austin Avenue, Atlanta GA 30307 - 404.522.4544 Definitely my favorite pet store in Atlanta. Stocked to the brim with high quality toys, collars, leashes,...
